A loaded question so let me negate the obvious first.

1. Yes Tex and Fla are bigger and have more players come out so forget that.
2. Yes stars and ratings are very subjective.
3. Yes you really don't know how good a class truly is for many years.

That said the general consensus is La is loaded this year. And if/when LSU signs the lions share we are seeing Championships. But what about Georgia or Arkansas. Dont they ever have bumper crops and rake in the in-state recruits? Where are their championships? Dont Bama this with a simple we are better answer.

Arkansas has as much talent as French settlement and UGA can't recruit their own state to save their lives.

Georgia had an absolutely monster year last year, but UGA hardly made an impact. They got 2 of the top 15 in-state recruits according to 247.

Georgia always has a hotbed of talent, but UGA can't seem to reel in the majority of it.. and they aren't losing guys to GT, either.

Nice.

I'm not complaining it's great to be an LSU Tiger. And I dont follow recruiting outside La. I guess it is the blessing of having a state of elite talent and no one within the borders to share it with. Bama and Ms have their huge years but spread it in-state and with vultures.

Alabama had a lot of talent the last two years and the 2009 year was pretty stacked with guys like Fluker, McCarron, Kirkpatrick, Nico Johnson, Quinton Dial.

I'm sure it's problematic being directly next to both the states of Alabama and Florida.

We've got Ark and Miss (lulz) and Texas has enough talent in state to keep them mostly only worried about their own guys.

Georgia always has a great crop.

MS too, but a lot of the kids can't seem to qualify.

AL always has some great kids.

SC is starting to pick things up.

Florida, as most know, has incredible talent.

Texas, same as UF.

Really, KY, AR, TN are the only states without major recruiting grounds.

Well, it doesn't help that AU is right there.

LSU is perfect because it's on the outside border of the SEC. we are very lucky for that reason because we only need a fence up for Alabama, Arky, Ole Miss, Miss State, and now Tamu.

No

SC-solid but nothing special
AL-pretty good year. Very good at the top
TN-by their standards its a great year but nothing like LA
KY-pretty strong year with Elam and Barker. Nexy year is better
MO-nothing great but have a couple of stud OL
AR-not too bad. Two very good DTs
MS-loaded with solid depth/contributor types. Nothing special anywhere. We've got the best in the state and he's almost an afterthought in our class
TX-absolutely loaded at DB and solid all around but a bit of a down across the board year
FL-some elite level guys and good depth but not a special year
GA-good year but not special. Last year was their special year

Seeing a lot of this. Can Richt not recruit? I know two years ago he would have been traded in for a case of Billy beer and a used Deliverence VHS tape.

No Richt can recruit with the best of them.

I think it's a combination of things. A lot of "hot" programs are around them right now and they really haven't had a program lately that got the state excited. They will always have top five recruiting classes; don't let other fool you. they are a consistent recruiting program. You just don't hear tons about them in the national media.

In fact, let's take a look at their past recruiting classes:

Class Rank
2013 11
2012 8
2011 5
2010 12
2009 5
2008 2

That averages out to a rank of 7.

I think this is what drives the UGA fan base nuts. If they dominated their Top 15 each year, 7 should be their low point.

When I think about Georgia I imagine Atlanta being the cultural urban environment and everything else being that old Southern backwoods area. I wonder how much kids just want to get the hell out of the state of Georgia altogether?

I call BS on Richt can recruit with the best of them. He has high rankings every year, but Georgia is almost right there with Florida and Texas for producing NFL players and Richt loses half of them every year. Every program in the SEC (including LSU) grabs one or two from him most years. If Richt owned Georgia the way LSU owns Louisiana (and we do, only lose one or two from the state each year, not the 6-8 Richt loses) then UGA would be in the national championship hunt every year.

Up until now, we haven't had a state BORDERING our state to share it with. Ole miss? State? Arkie?

aTm has changed all that. Hell we were the western most SEC team and could poach Texas pretty good (and still are), but the Aggies will be our pain in the arse recruiting wise going forward. Believe that.
