I like this commitment. Ton of upside, probably not immediate help but will be a good body for our guys to go up against on the blocks in practice, athletic, and has a mid range game that could further develop into something that is very good for us.

I like this better than the Deng Deng possibility.

my god man, LSU is going to be downright scary in about 2 years. Johnny Jones is building something special.

I'm as positive as the next guy, but y'all need to calm down a bit.

If everyone returns next year we could be really good and it has nothing to do with Darcy Malone.

There's no reason to think we won't be very good next year and possibly the following year (Depending on who we lose).

- We'll have 13 scholarship players for the first time since it seems like last millennia.

- We will have 5 former Top 100 overall recruits on the team next year, I honestly cant remember us stockpiling this kind of talent in the past. Yes, including the final four team (going by ranking out of h/s).

- Oh yeah, not included in those Top 100 overall recruits we'll still have for next year? Hickey, Stringer and Coleman...not too shabby for not being highly touted kids themselves.

- Don't forget John Odo, who is a 6'10 older presence who rebounds and blocks shots extremely well.

- For the first time in forever, guys like Hammink, Collins, Courtney and Malone can rest up, and we can only have to use them in blow outs instead of eating up some minutes for foul trouble or exhausted starters in tight games when they just dont have that talent level to compete. (I am not insinuating they are worthless players, just saying how the pecking order is basically, I do think Hammink and Malone can develop into solid players down the road, but living in the present currently).

It's really not being that optimistic. It's hard to have "Expectations" as an LSU basketball fan, but when you stockpile that kind of talent, kind of like that final four team, or to an extent that 2009 SEC Championship team...you have to expect more than missing the NCAAT and/or making the NIT.

This was not Johnny Jones, this was all David Patrick. Best recruiter in the SEC outside of Kentucky

Kirby is one of the best recruiters in the country.

And we all know bad things can happen (hell, it almost happened with Hickey), but if I had to say right this moment, I would predict everyone to return next year.

If anyone is curious, we had just 3 Top 100 overall recruits on the 2006 final four team, just looked it up.

Davis
Taz
Mag

Throw in Thomas who was just overlooked as a Top 100 guy, that still only makes 4...we'll have 5 next year.

Jordan Mickey is a Dallas kid. Don't think that was Kirby.

sure is nice to discuss the future of LSU hoops and not have it begin "well we could possibly win 7 or 8 games in the SEC, and with a little lucky sneak into the NCAA tourney"

When you are the boss, it's always your doing.

Jones didn't have to sign David Patrick on as an assistant. One of the best qualities of a head coach is who they surround themselves with.

I agree that having Patrick and his Australian connections was probably the main reason we even thought to bring Malone in, but that doesn't mean Jones doesn't deserve credit. He has the final say in everything, and he gets credit for everything. Wins and losses.

When I first read of his commitment, I was curious as to whether he's a legit player or just a tall guy who will take up a scholarship. After watching his video, I think this kid can develop into a solid player.

He's athletic, skilled and fluid. He's aggressive enough to take it to the hole and jam with authority, but he also has a nice mid-range jumper that can extend to just inside the three-point line. Looks like he can run the court well, too.

His moves around the basket - particularly the reverse dunk - tell me he's no stiff. I'm really excited about this kid's potential!

Also, Robert Kirby is a stud recruiter in his own right. Pretty sure he's the guy that got us Quarterman. He's probably the point man on Booker. He is the point man on Victor.
