Had a buddy of mine who knows Dalton well, told me he was looking to sign with a state school. Its good to hear Jr. is going to get a chance to continue his career in college. Congrats to the Hilliard Family...

LSU must have passed on him. He was too small, just like his father. We almost passed on his father. Wonder who that smart coach was who took him??

Kenny Hilliard is Dalton's nephew. He is the son of former LSU player Mike Calais and Dalton's sister.

Hillard will probably break all kinds of SLC records. Dalton was not wanted at LSU, but they did not want to play against him. He was the 4th running back that was recruited. History!!!

One of the funniest comments I ever heard about Dalton Hilliard Sr. came from Scooter Hobbs who used to cover the Tigers for Tiger Rag back in the early 80's. Garry James was the heralded back in that recruiting class and Hilliard was a little known after thought.

Preseason 1982, the defense figured to be LSU's strong suit. After the season Hobbs had this to say about Hilliard..."after watching Dalton Hilliard run against LSU's 1st string defense all summer I was convinced that the Tigers had the worst tackling defense they had ever fielded. Then the season started and turned out NOBODY could tackle Dalton Hilliard!!" The defense LSU put on the field in 1982 was actually one of their best ever, which only highlighted Hilliard's talent!

Also makes the point that one can't tell much about a team when watching it scrimmage against itself.

Dalton Sr was one of the all time great RB's I have ever seen, more less played against. Low center of gravity, legs like tree trunks. Like his nephew, Dalton Sr. started his 8 grade year and we had to face his arse for 5 years to say the least.

Ahh, memories. Used to see Dalton and Gary James walking around campus and in the quad back in the day when I was a student. I think Dalton has the biggest legs on campus, including the thunder thighs of some of the big girls.
