that kid hits those receivers in stride every time. none of them ever had to change their route or come back to get the ball. I'm way more impressed with him than rettig. there were a couple of Times I was sure he was going to take off but then he stopped and set his feet. very jamarcus-esque

I think you've forgotten. it's been a while. go back and look at his freshman season. the kid was running from day 1

The four QB's you say had poor escapability had phenomenal Mobility. Their mobility in the pocket allowed them the extra second or two to force the defense to cover longer.

I don't think that's accurate though. I really don't. In almost every interview regarding the JJ/JL issue...he ALWAYS said something about JJ and his "ability" to run. I honestly think he was put in there only because of the fact that JJ could extend a play if it broke down. He was never going to be used like Mett or JL was used.

ETA: Just watched again on a computer screen instead of my phone...the kid not only hits everyone in stride but also shows some great touch. It's obvious why a ton of coaches were high on him during the Elite11 competition.

Ok, Jennings looks good, but the most impressive film of a qb that we landed may have been jerrard Randall and he never touched the field. I heard of his accuracy issues and all. The point is some of these kids translate and some really do not. System or not, if you can play qb you can play qb. There are not many guys that I've seen come out of high school and really change a lot from what they did at that time. There is development with strength and recognition, but they play the same way they always have.

Agree...I hope it doesn't become another JJ/JL thing but I have a strong feeling it will...unfortunately, once either one of them makes a mistake our crazy fanbase will call for the other one. Sometimes I hate our fans.

I think how they are used would be the difference. I don't think anyone objected to JJ spelling Lee vs Bama, its the fact he never came out again.

You can platoon QB's correctly and that is what a "change of pace" guy is for. It would be nice to see someone with his talent brought in to run a few plays on occasion but not if they plays will be ultra predictable.

Funny how people didn't want a qb like jj. Afraid les would run the option.

I agree with you 100%. I was arguing that "escapability", while nice to have, is in no way a necessity. As you point out, the ability to make subtle, small adjustments in the pocket can serve very well.

Looked a lot like johnny football. Notice his throwing motion at the very beginning of the video.

This is the most asinine statement I keep reading on here. In other words, we have running backs, so we want a statute at QB? We don't want a Johnny Football, Russell Wilson, RGIII, Kaepernick, Andrew Luck, Cam Newton, Tim Tebow at QB. We don't want a QB who can make something out of nothing.

That is the argument of those who do not like "dual threat" QBs to justify not having one. And it is an insane argument at best.

I hate that Jennings and Rettig are coming in from the same class. I think they could both be pretty good for us but only one of them is gonna be the starter.

We can only hope that between Mett, Rivers, Randall, Rettig and Jennings we end up with ONE QB that can show real leadership on this team. Bring on the competition, and may the best man win!
