There's a thread in it. New UNT coach hasn't talked to him yet.

Does odoh have any offense or is he one of those guys that just block shots and rebound like the kid at Louisville?

I haven't seen much on him, but that's the sense I have. That would be ok, though.

Putbacks and layups and that's pretty much it. But he's athletic as hell; maybe by the time he's a senior we can develop him as a scorer, at least a little.

With the guards we have and OBryant, I dont see a scorer at the 5 as a necessity. We need someone to lock down opposing 5's and rebound/putback. Could be a perfect fit as we already have people who will require some shots/game.

Agreed. I expect O'Bryant's offensive game to develop a good bit this year and that will alleviate any real need to use Odoh as much more than a banger inside.

I wonder if Godfrey can give us significant minutes as a banger.

Godfrey will start or will play starter minutes. Unless we sign Odoh, or someone like him, Godfrey and JOB will start in the post. That's a sold front line in college basketball. While neither of them are really a true center, there are very few of those in college basketball anyway.

I don't know how all these signings will turn out, but I'm really impressed at what Jones has done in such a short amount of time. I expected him to get a bench player or two and try to get some guys next year, but he's been aggressive and made real moves to help the team.

There aren't many "true" centers in college. Hamilton was LSU's first true center in forever.

I agree. A 6-8, 240 guy, which is what Godfrey is, is plenty big enough for the post in college. Pair him with JOB, and it's more than sufficient.

If anyone is worried about character issues, Rosetta has quelled my fears. says that Godfrey is very deserving of a 2nd chance much like his 2nd wife has given him.
a blessing

Udoh averaged 12.4 points, 14.3 boards and 4.7 blocks per game last season. His scoring pretty much comes from the fact he's usually playing much shorter and WAY less athletic "Big" men at the JUCO level. For us he would most likely be a 5-6 point a game guy but still maybe grab 8-10 boards a game with a couple blocks. Assuming he'd be the starting center.

This all being said I have NO damn idea what our starting lineup will look like next year if we land Udoh. We could go a number of directions...

C: Udoh
PF: JOB III
SF: Coleman
SG: Turner
PG: Hickey

With Godfrey, Hammink, Morgan and Stringer being the high energy guys off the bench to push some in place of JOB III, Coleman, Turner and Hickey? Then you have your fillers like Ludwig, Courtney, and Issac?

I may be speaking too soon, but LSU signing multiple players who have displayed above average offensive ability's has gotten me all emotional.

Does anyone know if Hamilton hired an agent, or if there is any chance he could come back??

The signing of Godfrey will have more of an impact than Ricardo Gathers will have on Baylor. I've seen this kid play before and he in my opinion will leave LSU straight to the NBA. This was definitely a "win win" situation.

Godfrey is better than Gathers is now, and probably ever will be. That's barely even debatable.

am I the only one that thinks this ship has just about righted itself?

I'd love to take my son to the Deaf Dome, if it comes back.
