LSU could see a run of commitments in coming weeks LINK LINK

quote:

The summer months often bring about a wave of news, as prospects visit schools, attend camps, earn new offers and make commitments.

LSU usually reaps the benefits of good recruiting by its staff and a focus on striking gold during the summer months--something they have become extremely effective in executing under Les Miles. The next three weeks could bring about a run of commitments that exceeds most years, though.

It could all start this weekend as the Tigers are set to host high school teams from around the state for its annual LSU 7-on-7 and linemen camp. The Tigers are set to host nearly 1,000 more prospects next week for its July Prospect Camp, which often lures many of the nation's top prospects to its campus. Below is a list of prospects and developments to keep an eye on in coming weeks.

Plaquemines safety Todd Harris may be inching closer to a decision. Harris says that LSU and Ole Miss are his top two. It feels like the Tigers lead, though, so announcement in the near future certainly bodes well for the staff in Baton Rouge. Harris said that he is looking to July or early August for his announcement, but it wouldn't be shocking to see it happen next week at the Prospect Camp.

Florida linebacker Nadarius Fagan and his father are going to be in town next week as well, which is starting to look like a possible decision date for the speedy, 6-1, 205-pound linebacker. LSU emerged as the leader for his services this spring and have maintained that momentum into the summer months.

Texas cornerback Kary Vincent Jr. has also hinted about an impending decision. LSU took the lead in his recruitment during the spring, much like with Fagan, and it would be rather shocking to see Vincent declare for anyone other than the Tigers at this point. If he does indeed announce, which I believe will happen next Thursday of Friday, expect it to be for the Tigers.

Expect Florida safety Michael Nesbitt to arrive to LSU's campus for its prospect camp next week. Expect Nesbitt to impress the coaches and receive a push from them to commit. And expect the sought after prospect to give his pledge. LSU has quietly emerged as a serious threat for Nesbitt, who recently received pressure from the Florida State staff following his camp visit there in June--which he declined.

All the commitments may not come from just 2017 prospects, either. 2018 athlete Jammal Houston received his LSU offer on Friday and it may not take long for him to act on it. LSU likes Houston at both cornerback and wide receiver, but the 6-2, 175-pound two-way standout prefers to play on the offensive side of the ball. If LSU can make sense of it to Houston, his commitment will likely be given.

JUCO star defensive end Isaiah Buggs still holds LSU in high regards and he may be nearing his decision, according to multiple sources. At this point and time it appears that LSU is his leader, so his declaration should be good news for Tiger fans. Expect Buggs to make his announcement prior to the start of the season, possibly in the next week or two.

There are quite a few other prospects worth monitoring, but the six listed above seem to be impending.
