I want to start off by saying that I'm very excited about this years recruiting class, I think its a great class and could potentially be one of the best ever for LSU, but im worried that we haven't been recruiting enough big uglies on the O line. It doesn't matter how many skill position players you have on a team if you don't have a good Oline. I fear that we may be in a similar situation as the Saints were this year,(A good overall team but a terrible Oline) The offense wasn't the same as it was in years past and it was because of the Oline, Brees didn't have time to throw and as a result gave up a lot of sacks. We need to get more big uglies this year especially now that we have LF and an inexperienced QB in Jennings. Unfortunately i don't see us contending for a championship until we get more big uglies to protect Jennings and block for LF. We need more big uglies!

You should have finished the sentence, you can get a good laugh about it not being as good as years past...you know, with the 1,000 yd rusher, two 1,000 yd receivers, and a QB throwing for 3,000 yards.

I think we'll be ok with a large haul this year. Its kinda crazy how we recruit 4 safeties, at a position where only two see the field. But only recruit 2 or 3 OL where 5 are needed

First of all, as a welcome to the board I'd like to tell you to GFY.

2nd, you said "big uglies" entirely too many times in that post.

And finally, we are just fine at OL. Would I have liked to sign more O-Lineman? Yes, but I don't think only signing 2 this year puts us at any sort of disadvantage.

TL;DR but I guess its some recruiting analyst with really good information on how we need offensive linemen this year.

Very original thought. You should read this board more often so you can see all the people who have said the same thing.

Taking someone like Bailey Granier who would have never seen the field would have just been a wasted scholarship. He would have redshirted anyway. 1 extra year of experience wouldn't make up for a severe talent gap behind a '15 signee.

Would you rather sign two O-linemen that will never see the field next year because they aren't SEC caliber?

OR? Would ypu rather save two scholarships for one semester and possibly have two highly rated early enrolees at those positions?

Coming out better with scenario 2, IMO. If they're not LSU caliber, they're gonna redshirt anyway.

good post and good point. I'm on board with you on that point. I think we would have taken 4 this year if we could have landed 4 top quality o-lineman. Just couldn't make it happen. We'll be ok though. Next year it looks like we are going to be able to get at least 5 top quality big ugly o linemen. They got some good ones in state this year and we already landed a 5 star really big ugly one from Texas and possibly another one who is listed as a really big TE but could easily grow into a quality left tackle. We're going to be all right. Think we put more emphasis on it in the future with the new o-line coach.
