I coach HS football but my opinion in this area of the state is Kenny G and the whole Parkview staff. They do a great job

I still haven't seen a better resume posted than Red Franklin.

367 wins 76 losses
6 time coach of the year
11 State Titles

If you count Red Franklin as active, and I do, thats the winner. Haynesville is a very small town and ranks nationally in wins.

Not one mention of Mickey Roussell at Riverside. He has done the most with the least talent and its not even close.

Well, no way to know until you get into something. It was not all bad. We broke 6 school offensive records and had some success even in the midst of a difficult situation. I learned a TON of what NOT to do that will serve me nicely the rest of my career. The best thing was that I made a lot of coaching contacts the last year and am now in a better situation for the future than I was this time last year and that's always a good thing.

Vic has had several players sign. But he is still at the top year after year with average athletes. One of the worst around is Rayville's coach, tons of talent and never gets to the Dome. I even heard one of his assistants call he a dumbass the other day. The same assistant said Neb. and Alabama are going to sign two of there DEF. lineman and LSU isn't even looking at them.

Id say Cook or Monica both have great defenses every year and beat teams that have loads of more talent every year.

This has changed as of late, but back in the late 80's through the late 90's a mention could be made for Price at Broadmoor. Few in numbers, very little college level talent, but consistent winner.

Sid Edwards. Gave Central their first playoff win in 30 years. Won back to back District 4-5A championships and won 3 state titles w/ Redemptorist. I think his crowning achievement on the field is his turnaround job at Central.

I think loyalty has to come into the equation somewhat.

They had a tight end in the early '90s that signed with LSU then transfered after a year to La Tech because he was behind Lafleur.

Just saying

Yes a plethora of talent...The south LA bias is clearly shown in this thread. Just change the title to Best South LA HS coach.

Damn, JJ get the sand out of your vag. I wasn't disagreeing with you. Respect Josh Bradley(I think that was his name) fool.

well I'm sure he coached their forever. If coach cook would have been at one school for that long I'm sure he would have a better record. He was at UL and other places

While I agree it is easier to rack up wins when you stay at one school for a long time, look at Red Franklins numbers considering he was the head coach for 35 years:

10.5 wins/season
2 losses/season
1 state title every 3 years

maintaining that kind of success for 35 years is impressive. The only question is do you consider him active now. Considering he is assisting his son David Franklin at every practice and game I consider him active. He gets my vote.
