Was a QB commit for Wisconsin but got his offer pulled for tweeting he picked up an offer from UGA. Might be a good plan B if we can pull the big names in this class

Wisconsin must have been looking for a reason to cut bait. He's probably not very good.

Wisconsin and 3 Stars and then they win like 10 games a year.

3 Star

I hope this is a joke, if not you guys really have to get over that star chasing BS.

Recent 3 star QB's (Just to name a couple)
Mahomes
Prescott

Recent 4 and 5 stars to bust
Browne
Cornwell
Johnson
Do I even have to link Brandon Harris

In the end stars are cool to look at because you feel like your getting the best and you have someone else agreeing with you, but just because they are a 3 star doesn't mean they can't be good.

Recruiting services say it themselves the difference between a 3 star and a 4 and 5 star can be really snall like grades, height, speed, or "potential". Once they get to college its the person who wants it the most that turns out to be good. See Speedy Noil top 10 player with huge "potential" or see Corey Davis went to small school and is now a top ten pick, while Noil is already on his second team in a month

The stars don't matter debate is silly. We've seen the math, higher rated guys going into HS still have the higher percent chance to go to the NFL. Of course guys will still develop but you can't know who will still grow after they sign, etc.

The thing with QBs is that they are the most difficult position of all to evaluate and we've done a bad job of recruiting QBs that fit the skill set needs of our offense. You could take a 3 star QB with a pro-set skill set and he would probably do better than a 4 star DT QB, but I'd rather still recruit the right type of kid and get a 4 star pro set QB. Are the stars always correct? No, but for every 3 star who makes it to the NFL, there are a hundred who don,'t, vs a much greater percentage for the higher star rating.

There are about 1000 Ben Bryants in Texas. Take your pick.

For LSU fans: Mr. Lee was the Brenham Gunslinger we were all waiting for. Geez , Pat Summerall did a special on him. Never Know! how a recruit (especially QB) will turn out!

This is why I would like for them (if possible) to take 2 every class.

Yeah, I'm not sold on LSU being so horrible that they should be desperate enough to scour the country for recruits who have had their scholarship offers pulled.

Of all the QB's in the country what makes this guy stand out to you? Is it just because you think he is now desperate because he lost his scholly to Wisconsin?

Lol at you or anyone else turning their nose up at a QB recruit. Have you seen the QBs on the roster?

I have. I think Narcisse and Brennan with finally having what is hopefully a better OC/QB's coach than in the past can be very good QB's.

I'm not turning my nose up at anybody. Did you see where I asked the OP why he is so high on the QB recruit? He brought this to the board with two links and news of him having his offer rescinded by Wisconsin, a school he was committed to.

Someone else said bring him to camp and offer a scholarship. Would anyone on this board even know the guys name or have ever heard of him if he wasn't in the news for having his offer pulled? - which again, to me, is not a good enough reason to offer a scholarship.

The position may be the most difficult to master due to the intangibles required (namely leadership and smarts to read defenses), but is it really more difficult to evaluate than OL? Specifically OT?

I sure wish we had the numbers on 3* players who were offered by big time schools and were actually evaluated then offered. I bet those 3* guys make it quite often. It's really about doing your homework as a staff and this entire staff is well known for spotting talent no matter their star rating. Of course the numbers on 5* are better simply because of the numbers being so low.
