Jordan Mickey Making Moves

Article says James Wright (LSU WR) is his older brother. Is he originally from New Orleans?
Seems we are in contention for him. Wow, a lot of Poward Forwards next year to choose from.

J. Martin/Bridgewater (2013) and Victor (2014) at the NBPA Camp this week. Several other LSU targets also.

Mickey has been visiting a number of schools recently, including a brief trip to LSU on Memorial Day a few weeks ago. Mickey and his AAU teammates took an unofficial visit and toured the school with new coach Johnny Jones and staff. Mickey's older brother, James Wright Jr., plays for the Tigers' football team as a junior wide receiver. The family plans on heading back to LSU in the summer or fall to take a more extensive look at the campus and, of course, catch a football game or two.

I did not know James Wright was his brother. Good catch.

You may be able to add this as a rumor of sorts for Bridgewater. Heard that he was quitting football and transferring to Scotlandville for his senior year.

If so, it'll be interesting how the step up from 2A->5A affects anything, if at all.

What district does he live in? Unless he lives in Scotlandville's district, he would not be eligible as a senior.

ETA: Hearing the same thing now as well. He's been practicing with the team lately.

Saw Bridgewater briefly at Scotlandville yesterday. Word there was that he has been "hanging around" but not playing in summer league with them. I think he was with the Scotlandville Varsity at Belaire SL before the players showed up to play the second half at Scotlandville vs McKinley. I think Scotlandville is his home school, though by the address I'm aware of Glen Oaks is actually closer. Depends on how the zone is drawn. With Damien Jones/Sams on the team Bridgewater would get to play on the wing if he ended up at Scotlandville. I bet you that is playing into it.

I hear Bridgewater is more like 6-foot-4 than the 6-6 he's listed as. Is this true?

I'd still take him at this point, but I'm beginning to think he's solid role player material at the SEC level and not a program-changer.

He's about 6'4". He's not even 6'6" with shoes on. With that said, I think he is skilled enough to play at a high major as a small forward. He handles/shoots/passes the ball well enough. Playing full time as a 3-man would mean continuing to improve those skills though. It's interesting the rumor Bridgewater could transfer to Scotlandville. He reminds me of JJ Thomas who played there 2 years ago. JJ wasn't as skilled though.

Problem is Scotlandville barely played JJ or Pancake (brothers) at the SF position. I think they are going to play Bridge at the 4 more and have Sam back up the 4/5. Just the way they run their offense.

David Taylor has joined a pro German team, but from what I have been able to gather he will not be paid and still maintains his amateur status.

He apparently still has plans to play college basketball in a year.

Taken from SECrb thread from a few days ago:

@jdemling: Jarrell Martin wasn't all that talkative but said he's been hearing the most from UCLA, Louisville, Baylor and LSU. @Top100Camp

LSU is recruiting some elite point guards, along with already signing Corban Collins. I wonder where that leaves Taylor?

Everything I gather leads me to believe he is an elite player. Along with Derrick Taylor's relationship with Johnny Jones (played with him and coached him), it seems like he would be a lock for LSU.

LSU will likely sign 4 players next year. Is Taylor going to be in the picture?

Lot of names out there, and if he does well playing pro ball I see no reason why we wouldn't. That's a pretty high level of competition and if he excels, he could really have a leg up on a lot of domestic guys that don't have that type of experience coming out.

I was wondering what kind of perimeter skills Bridgewater had. That sounds promising. How well can he shoot from three-point range? How well can he drive with the ball?

I may have posted this here already, I can't remember. But Jones did an interview a few weeks ago and someone mentioned going to AF bases in Germany to find players, obviously referring to Shaq. Jones laughed and said something to the effect of hopefully we can go to Germany and get a kid that can really help us out.

The way it was said, it was tough to say whether or not he was specifically referring to anyone, or just making a general comment.

Lots of news the last few days that Jordan Mickey will be making his decision in July. Doesn't list us at all, out of top 8 schools.

Guy that tweeted that doesn't seem to know anything though because he is just listing offers. I certainly don't think we land this kid but he did visit somewhat recently. Has he been elsewhere since? Felt like he was a guy that would go Kansas.
