thread jack - Are you from this area? I will be moving to Shreveport after my Korea tour. Think we got it down to Haughton or Benton ... Thoughts?

I love in Shreveport but Haughton and Benton are both growing pretty fast. Most of my Bosses live in pretty big houses in Benton. I think that's where the bigger money people are moving.

North Bossier is expanding rapidly. Very nice new subdivisions up there.

Nice touchdown for Fair Park. QB got drilled but hit the fade just inside the front pylon. 7-6 Haughton leads.

I've lived in Benton for 16 years. Nice wooded lots. Nice houses. No crime. In fact, when I bought my lot I went to inspect it and had to climb over a wooden fence since I forget the gate key.
Within 30 seconds a cop pulled up and said "Who are you and what are you doing here?"
I explained, gave him my name and phone number. When I got home I told the wife: "Honey, our new home is gonna be VERY safe."
Haughton is nice, too.

I live in north bossier and have lived there for 15 years. Benton is the place to go. Great place to live with a great school district. Very safe. I'm not a fan of haughton at all. Not even a little bit. Benton is the place to live

thanks for the replies .. wife googled the schools and said she didnt like the Benton reviews but said Haughton had better reviews ... how is traffic getting to the base area?

East of Benton near the lakes is a nice area. Lived there for 14 years.

Like any place, there is going to be traffic in the peak times of the day. I live 2 seconds from Benton and if you go at a time with little traffic, it shouldn't take you more than 15 minutes. But Benton goes really far north so it really just depends were in Benton you live
Also I am surprised that reviews reflect the Benton district unfavorably. In all honesty, north bossier in the airline high school district is probably the best place to live in the parish all around. Great schools, no crime, close to the city but still have houses on half acre lots. Love it here. Good luck with everything and thank you for your service!
