Ardoin attending junior days

Kendall Ardoin

It's proven easy for several emerging 2014 prospects to stay under the radar until now in Louisiana, which is chock full of talented juniors. When you're a gifted 6-5, 210-pound tight end such as Ville Platte's Kendall Ardoin, however, it's only a matter of time until your recruitment gets moving in the right direction...

Kendall Ardoin is an emerging prospect who probably won't have to wait much longer for his first offer.
"I've been to junior day at LSU and Louisiana Tech," Ardoin said. "LSU was really, really good. I learned a good bit about how their student-athletes manage to succeed in academics and athletics."
Ardoin was impressed with the tutors who work with LSU athletes. He already does quite well in the classroom with a 3.8 grade point average and test score of 23.
"Louisiana Tech was good as well," he continued. "It wasn't as big as LSU's (junior day) but it seemed to perhaps be the people Tech is recruiting hard.
"I like Tech's offense. It's a spread that's similar to our school. I'm being recruiting by coach Matt Moore. Tech told me to camp this summer to determine if I'm more of a 'hands on the ground tight end or an outside receiver.'"
He'll make the 45-minute trek south this weekend for the Ragin' Cajuns' junior day in Lafayette.
"I'm being recruited by Coach (Jorge) Munoz," Ardoin informed. "I really like UL as a school. It's close to home. They haven't talked about an offer yet, but they just recently started recruiting me."
As a junior, Ardoin grabbed 34 catches for 511 yards and four TDs at Class 2A Ville Platte, which went 7-4 and reached the playoffs. The Bulldogs, seeded 19th, were ousted by No. 14 Loreauville in the first round, 42-25.
Ardoin averaged 10 points and "eight-to-nine rebounds" per game for Ville Platte's hoops squad. The No. 5 Bulldogs blazed their way to a 26-6 record (10-0 in district) and quarterfinals berth (lost to No. 4 St. Thomas Aquinas, 57-50).
"I'm a really hard worker," Ardoin added, "who really got into it (weightlifting) last summer."
The rangy junior -- often compared to Westlake four-star TE and LSU commit Jacory Washington -- takes reps at defensive end and tight end.
Mississippi State and Georgia also are schools of interest.

He really is a great kid i been coaching for a long time been knowing his family even longer. I will say this with a great summer in the weight room he should get to bout 220. I talked to Coach Knox from Miss St. yesterday and he said the are going to offer so its bout to get real interesting.

Yep, grew up with the Ardoins in Faubourg and they are good people. They are also a family of giants. Kendall will get a lot bigger.

It seems like we have a real possibility of carrying a bevy of talented tight ends in the coming years.

I think it would be interesting to maybe build in a H-back position if it gets to that point. I actually think guys like Kendell Beckwith and Melvin Jones could excel in that type of role too.

Last time we talked he didn't say that was a deciding point for him unless he changed his mind since yesterday.
