Are we still in a dead period?

Can coaches speak with the recruits this morning to put in their final pitches? Or are they on their own to make a final decision?

I'm feeling pretty alive, honestly.

They can still speak to them on the phone, just no face to face. I may be wrong, but I think thats how it works.

Doesn't the dead period end either tonight or tomorrow at midnight ?

i recruits can contact coaches, but not the other way around

As said above the only thing a dead period forbids is in person contact. Recruits can can initiate communications with whomever they want and as often as they want. Coaches are simply limited to normal restrictions other than the face to face.

Dead period ends tomorrow at midnight and yes only the recruit can initiate contact, but there is one exception and is any recruit who is going to be an EE and has already been accepted may be contacted during the period.
I take that as meaning any of these that have signed financial paperwork as well, even to multiple schools.

Actually Jan 4th Sat-Jan 11th is contact period only quiet for JUCO EE, The 12th is quiet for all and 13th-16th is another dead period.
In regards to calling I had it wrong the NCAA does allow coaches to call but may be a limit on the number of calls.

(6) January 4-11, 2014, for all junior college prospective studentathletes
who intend to enroll midyear:
Quiet Period
My understanding is only quiet for JUCO EE otherwise contact for all other recruits during that period.

Also from the NCAA website:
(a) Institutional staff members may have contact with a prospective student-athlete who has been admitted for midyear enrollment, provided the prospective student-athlete has signed a National Letter of Intent or other offer of admission and/or financial aid to attend the institution and is required to be on campus to attend institutional orientation sessions for all students.
I take this as someone like Hootie who signed financial papers for both UA and LSU and accepted to be an EE anyone from either staff could visit Hootie if they wanted during the dead period. Hence why I do not think LSU has interest in him anymore because it does not appear they reached out to him.

If a coach wants to talk to a recruit---do you really believe the message won't get to the recruit to call that coach? Most schools in real contention for the 'top 100' recruits have established contacts years in advance.
It will be the recruits option to call. If there is no return call the coach knows the deal is done (not in his favor). Then it is plan 'B'.

Coaches are are limited only by normal calling procedures during the dead period. Dead period is about in person contact, not phone calls.
