I believe the June camp is a 2014 camp and the July camp is for 2013 kids.

Are these camps ever open to watch? I assume no but thought I'd ask.

No they are not open to watch. That would be cool. They have over 100 kids coming will take 3 days.

Is the 1st camp really this weekend? Bad timing to have one the same weekend as Bama. No way to get all the LA kids in since some will inevitably go to Bama's. Laurence Jones, Beckwith and the white wr from Barbe is on their list.

I may be mistaken but I'm almost certain our camps are open to any class. I think one day of one of the camps is OL only but still open to any class.

Meh, who cares? Some Bama targets will inevitably go to our camp, too. Certainly not gonna schedule ours around theirs.

My understanding, as well.

I get what you're saying and agree on the premise. To me it's not about fear, it's about optimizing opportunites of getting these kids on LSU's campus.

Who pays for these camps and the travel? Most kids can't afford it, I would assume.

The legal thing to say is that the kids/parents pay for them but in reality some do and some don't. Many, many kids get to camp for free whether it's openly admitted or not. Some just don't pay and some are reimbursed. I personally think they should be free anyway. What else do the coaches have to do in June? They can't go on the road to recruit and contact is limited. They can't coach the team. They have camps and go on vacations during the summer. The camps are more beneficial to the school than the kids in most cases but I'm sure the NCAA and the schools have reasons for charging for the camps.

I'm more wondering about the travel expenses. You see these kids "camping" very far away from home, more and more.

LSU just uses a handler like Willy Myles to get them here...
