I thought he would be a great addition. Oh well. I guess there was a reason why some of the top basketball schools he was looking at basically turned him down.

Without a doubt I would rather have him than not, but it's not a huge loss. I wouldn't mind using that extra scholly to get a transfer that has to sit out a year. Another big roster turnover coming next year we are going to need some immediate impact guys

He would have been a proven, experienced addition to next year's team. Certainly a guy who would have likely been your "go-to" scorer. That said, I think Sampson can be the same type of player if Wade can get consistent effort and play out of him.
The silver lining is that LSU is ok a guard even without Alstork and regardless, he would have only been a one-year addition.
To me, the bigger impact of the signing would be a small sample of proof of Wade's ability to out-recruit other big name programs. Not a program changing loss, but a guy LSU certainly would have loved to have.

I'm not talking bad about Alstork at all? I even said it sucks that we couldn't get him. Just don't believe for a second that Alstork would have been the difference between this program having success and not having it.
I seriously doubt we will end next season saying "well if we had just had Alstork this season would have been drastically different."
