247 rating changes after LSU Camp

I'm taking this from Barton Simmons' article from the 247 site, but this is free info and worth bringing over. Profile links are in the article link.
LINK
Thornton and Blacklock go from being 3 stars to 4 stars (Thornton now #180 overall, Blacklock #137 overall)
Raekwon Davis (do want) moves to higher 4 star, #48 overall, possible 5 star with a good senior showing
Willie Allen drops, down to #102 overall on 247, I believe he was a high 4 star around 30 overall before (ESPN having him 4 overall is laughable given the criticism at camps)
Keytaon Thompson drops from 4 star to 87 rating, 3 star, #308 overall (uh oh)
Clifford Chattman drops from 89 to 86, still a 3 star, #746 overall classified as a safety
This is exactly what I expected given the reviews during the camp. I thought Blacklock was a backup plan when he was first on the radar, pretty clear he's not backup plan now, but a priority. If Stephon Taylor wants to drag it out, he might miss out if Gary is in play as well.

I have been surprised as Chattman was drawing tons of hype in the winter. However I just chalk him up as a raw high upside recruit that will be worth the wait. He will probly play OLB at LSU, so His rating as a safety is not that important.

Chattman just looked like he didn't belong honestly (Against the other top players at camp). Which is why he tumbled so much. They feel like he's more of an OLB in the future but that requires him putting on a lot of weight and they were disappointed to see him still around 175 lbs (despite being so tall). He really will have to have a good senior year to stay in the class IMO.

Doesn't look like Coxie has changed yet. Many expecting a bump based on his camp.
Barton said he isn't changing him until they see his senior film. Want to see how a strong camp performance will translate to the field this fall before bumping him up any. I dont think he'll be a 4-star, but could be bumped up to an 88 or 89 probably. Speed is a big factor holding him back still.

Happens all the time dude. If you don't think every recruit will eventually develop into Herschel Walker, or defensive equivalent, then you might as well kill yourself.

I don't know if 24/7 updated a lot of players still has Shaver 86% Florida St. with Bama in the mix to, but neither made his top 3

Those are crystal ball picks by individuals, so they have to change those on their own. Kind of pointless to have that feature when many of the picks are hopelessly outdated.
I remember a couple years ago Chuck Baker got bumped to a 4 star after a good camp, had an awful senior season, and ended up at Southern. Hope Coxie puts up a good year, but can understand their reservation in bumping him right now.

Blacklock also received an Army All-American Bowl invite after the camp. It's a great message for the kids who attend these type of camps, specifically LSU's Elite camp. Do well and you will not only get noticed but also rewarded for your effort, even if they don't get an offer the recognition creates more options.

Still want him. That guy is going to be real good.

I wasn't saying he won't be good but I think he will need a red shirt yr and possible another yr, to get acclimated to playing olb at lsu

Im siding with you here. I didnt understand his offer, but I'm not paid to either. I think we were grabbing early on before we had a couple guys commit. I hope I'm wrong because I like to see kids do well. nonetheless with his height....he better start packing on the pounds or he is gonna be in trouble.

We'll have Franks and Harris here, he'll have plenty of time.

I think that post was about Chattman playing outside linebacker, not sure why he responded to your Thompson post.

I was reading they doubt he moves to OLB. Struggled in gaunlet and can't cover well.
They have him as an athlete now but I doubt he adds on the sufficient weight at his height.
He may have to grey shirt and Deontay Anderson his seat.

Why have him in this class though? 3 stars need to have an upside I just want to know what his is other than "project"
just wondering

I don't see chatman in this class when it's all said an done. He would have to put on 30-45 pounds to play olb, that's not an easy task. And still be athletic enough to move. He's not LSU caliber at db
Never like to talk down on a kid, but that's just how I see it
That spot could go to Anderson for sure. I doubt he's sold on ole miss

I honestly think Chatman either a) knows he shite the bed and will feel the pressure. May start looking because even if we don't get Anderson Smith is a hybrid and will play some safety. (IMHO Smith is a true safety not cover corner) or B) staff may start giving him the cold shoulder and politely ask him to look elsewhere. The Chris Hardeman treatment.
Either way you hit the nail on its head. He isn't LSU caliber at this time and even if he comes on board this staff is untouchable and big time names at Safety and OLB are already being mentioned for the 2017 class.
My amateur 10$ a month opinon. Kid never sees field at LSU.
ETA - this is by far a ridiculous class. If he was a 2015 kid he may have stuck or even a 2017 kid. But this class is too loaded with kids eyeing LSU at both of those positions. At end of day no way coaches tell someone no we are full Over a project like chatman
