I was just checking 24/7 and their rankings for the class and the positional rankings and to say the least this class in Louisiana will contend with the recent 09 and 14 class.

Breaking it down it goes a lil' somethin like this...

Amite has two players that are top 3 at their position nationally--one at Defensive Tackle (Ishmael Sophser) and the other Wide Receiver (Devonta Lee).

From Destrehan you have two players that are ranked: John Emery is ranked from top 2 to 6 at the running back position nationally. His teammate Quinton Torbor is #44 ranked receiver, but I believe he will climb as his offer list is pretty stacked. He didn't start for Destrehan last year, but when he played he was very good from what I've seen on film.

John Ehret has the top player at Inside Linebacker in the nation by all recruiting publications (unanimous) named Donte Starks. He transferred back to John Ehret and the New Orleans area after his sophomore year playing in Ocean Springs, MS having played for St. Martin's High School. A two way player that will likely be the most sought out linebacker in the nation in 2019.

Southern Lab has two players themselves that are high profiled and both are LSU commits: that being Kardell Thomas (not to be confused with the former "slash" qb that played for the black and yella) who is the top ranked or at the very least two ranked guard in the nation in 2019 as of today. The other is a recent commit in Tyrion Davis who is the #17 ranked running back as of today in the 2019 class... I believe he will rise the next two years without question. A quality program that produces quality athletes that excel at the next level.

Trey Palmer from Kentwood is listed as the #16 or #19 receiver in the class who is my favorite I've seen on film. He could play a multitude of positions in college from receiver to safety. On defense he is a head hunter who has a knack for the ball and the runner while as a receiver he is extremely shifty and can separate from defenders once in the open field.

Derek Stingley (what a name) from Dunham is the highest ranked cornerback from Louisiana coming in at #15. To round out the cornerback class from Louisiana we have Donald Clay from John Curtis at #23 and Chester Kimbrough at #24 from Warren Easton down there in that bowl. I don't think we can be sure if as of today if these two will receive LSU offers, but Stingley has and hopefully will commit.

There are omissions from the compiled list that will be added, I'm sure of it, after the 2017 season commences.

I know that Destrehan has a quarterback in Harold Blood who has all the tools in the world to be a top flight Quarterback before he leaves. He started for most of the year last year for Destrehan when their starting QB went down earlier (Kohen Granier). He had the talent and with all the reps next year after an off-season of growing and gaining some weight I expect he and that offense of theirs to be very good.

Also missing were two players from West Monroe that leaves me scratching my head. One is their recent transfer from Wossman in Dalvin Hutchinson. It goes without saying that he will be a top 10 defensive tackle recruit before he leaves. He is 6'2 305 and has started since his freshman year. His film is of high quality and played exceedingly well against very good competition (including the very team he has transferred to in the off-season). Not quite sure why he isn't listed as he performed admirably at the LSU camp recently.

Also missing was Andrew Gleason from West Monroe who is about 6'4 240, maybe more now that they have concluded an off-season and has the summer to gain more weight. He has no highlight film outside of the game against Landry-Walker where he was about the only defender who showed up and stayed with Keytaon Thompson showing very good foot-work and athleticism in stopping the read option. He will be a high-riser and probably already is known by the staffs around the SEC.

I'm sure there are many more unknowns around the state that will blossom and perform the next year and join this group already listed.

Coach O has made a point to keep the talent in Louisiana and the talent pool is as good as it has ever been.

to all LSU fans and may this be just a primer for next years recruiting class in which it will be one of the better ones in the last decade.

Louisiana is absolutely stacked next year but the crazy thing to add to all of that is the amount of out of state talent interested in LSU for 19'. Could be one of the best classes we ever pull

Good post. Don't forget about Devin Bush, the cornerback from Karr. He has an LSU offer. Also, Thomas Perry, the OT from Teurlings Catholic who committed to LSU last weekend.

Yes, we currently have the #2 ranked corner in the nation out of Memphis, TN and the #2 ranked Tackle out of Texas.

If we somehow pull the Thibodeaux kid out of Cali then lord help them. Thibodeaux was born in Lake Charles, but claims that locale will not factor for either Southern Cal or LSU and his recruitment will be about what is best for him.

So, he will likely be at either ....

I expect Thomas Perry from Teurlings Catholic to see his stock rise even after committing himself. He was not listed, but no doubt he will be a top 20 tackle.

Very good reminder about Bush. Very Bush league that he isn't listed in the top 30 cornerbacks already in the nation as of today. But, after seeing his film I see he had a lot of interceptions based in a deep cover 3 or the QB just winging it and tossing it up into coverage (probably blow outs as Karr blew the door off last year).

Didn't get a chance to see tight coverage in the film, but his speed and hands are very good.

Yeah thibodeaux will be hard to get but there's always a chance. Couple of big prospects from Georgia and Alabama are very interested as well! Oline pull will be like none other next year

Nice post! We could pull in 5-6 five star kids just by keeping our commits and the in-state kids.

though I don't think anyone will mistake kardell Thomas for kordell stewart.

Potential 5 stars:

Two from Amite in Sophser and Lee..

Destrehan has one in Emery...

Southern Lab has one in Kardell...

John Ehret has one in Starks...

A possible 6th would be Hutchinson from West Monroe if he truly performs big time this year under some legendary coaching. He has all the tools to be as good as he wishes to be.

Gleason is looking great. He is right at 240 and looking very fit. He will step in and more than fill that starting end position.

Calvin is a big guy but is closer to 6'0" than 6'2". He is very strong and hard to move. He needs to work on his lateral speed and pursuit. Getting better coaching will surely help him.

Swanner is a dark horse on that line. He is stronger and quicker than Dalvin. SEC schools will be concerned with his height. He is 6'0" with shoes on and is 270. He had the most snaps of the defensive linemen last year as a sophomore starter. While his rehab is going well a lot will depend on how his knee recovers. He is in the mold of a Chucky Hunter and LSU may overlook him like they did Chucky.

Are you sure Dalvin is only 6'0? On film he more than looks the part of 6'2, but you sound as if you know.

Dalvin hasn't been in the weight program at West Monroe as Swanner has, but if he works extremely hard I don't see why he wouldn't get as strong or stronger. His film is highly impressive against very good teams.

I don't see Swanner back until possibly October into November. My worry is him returning too soon when he truly needs to be 100% across all test lines when it comes to knee injuries before returning. Kids returning too son to only blow out another knee or the same knee again happens at all too often a rate these days.

Dalvin if he stays healthy and works hard has the tools to be a 5 star tackle from what I've seen of him while in school. Picking him up from Wossman was YUGE. His talent solidifies an already very good line.

The good news is Dalvin and Swanner have become friends and are going to push each other. From sheer size and ability Dalvin is going to push Swanner and Swanners work ethic should motivate Dalvin. They are goung to be a great inside tandem these next two years.

Swanner's doctor and physical therapist are happy with his progress. He has been working hard. The doc thinks he mught could be released by the first of August but the coaches will hold him out of contact until at least the John Ehret game, longer if needed.

I am just short of 6'1" and Dalvin seems shorter than me. I will try to confirm this next week.

Good to hear. I know and respect his (Swanner) Uncle over the years and find him to be an outstanding man. So, I know he is in good hands when it comes to when he returns.

One player to watch for out of state is Owen Pappoe. His teammate is committed to us a WR and has a teammate who is a DB that is very interested in LSU. 247 doesn't show LSU having any chance but don't let it deceive you! LSU is very much in the race to land the trio out of the GA powerhouse that would stick true like the evangel trio in the 18' class. After a visit to a night game in Death Valley this fall with his teammate pushing him I really think we could get him. Definitely one to keep your eye on Hudl 247
