Update on guste island/post Louis condos: my dads place got water up the front steps and about 1 foot from the back porch but was 2-3 feet from getting in the condos. Due to the inlet there it really didn't matter that a levee broke. The storm surge would've risen the water as high as it got no matter what, it just got in quicker with the levee break. This is the highest it has gotten in the 20 years we've had the place. The water has receded and the cleanup process is underway. Well need a new a/c unit but all in all a few more feet of storm surge would've been disastrous. Now let's watch some LSU football!!!!

Here are some port Louis photos from the news. You can see the water rushing in over the levee on the top left of the second pic

Are you on cleco or wst? I know some houses in arrowwood have wst. I talked to my friend and he said after Gustov the back had power and the front didn't. He said cleco forgets that their are 2 cleco lines and one wst to arrowwood.

By the way, thanks again for checking on the water. I heard a few homes down pine st flooded, but the water is going down.

Just talking to my neighbor across the back fence, I learned today that WST serves the front part of the sub and Cleco the back. Good call there... that was the difference in the two parts getting power at diff times.

Ya, went by Pine Oak today and it was lower. Took some pics at Abita playground... will post soon.

Anybody know how deep the water was in the lower part of Madisonville, below hwy 22? I know most of those houses are elevated. I wonder if it was enough.

Any word on when Charter cable will be fully up and running? Some channels work here in Slidell and others don't. Most importantly my ESPNU is not working. I know.. First world problems.

The following information was posted by officials on St. Tammany's website:

Recent information suggests that the Pearl River, at the Town of Pearl River, is expected to crest early Monday morning at 18.5 feet according to the National Weather Service. There is a possibility it could crest higher. We are asking residents East of and along Military Rd. and Highway 433 extending to Lake Pontchartrain be vigilant for the next day and a half. Please watch for advisories from the St. Tammany Parish EOC and the National Weather Service concerning the progression of rising waters in the river as it makes its way thought the parish. We will communicate via reverse 911 calls, STPGOV.ORG, Facebook and Twitter; as well as through local media outlets. Please be advised that a reverse 911 call may show on your phone as an unknown caller. Please do not ignore these calls if you reside in the potentially affected areas. I figured this was worth posting in its entirety. I was aware that it would be higher than the initial 18.5' prediction (I had stated closer to 20' in another post) but was unaware that it would be Monday before it crested. Figured I'd pass along the complete list.

Tried to get charter on the phone. I just want some info to plan accordingly but they won't say anything. Not have they seemingly made any progress today.
