I'm calling BS. If you prepare with enough time to have it when the shite hits the fan.
Now,2 days before a hurricane hits then it's "Err merr gerrddd,I don'ts has enough moneys to be buyin no generator" I really don't sympathize with people like this.

Seriously, you don't understand that someone may have more important things to spend money on than a generator that they might use every 4 years for a few days? I know plenty of people who live paycheck to paycheck that deal with having a shitty laptop they bought in college because they can't afford to drop a few hundred bucks on something they would use daily.

Personally, I'm doubting whether I should bother to spend money that I actually have to buy a generator and window unit A/C for the next time this happens in probably 3-4 years. Quite frankly, even though I have the money I don't think I am bothered enough by the lack of A/C to spend the money just to avoid it being 10-15 degrees hotter in my house for 3-4 days every 3-4 years.

The way and manner these workers operate is retarded. But it's genius to them. By operating in such a way it assures them of the maximum amount of overtime.

Good lord. There is so much wrong here.

then you're not one of the ones I'm talking about. I had neighbor women after Gustav screaming at the top of their lungs, cursing the air because Demco wasn't there to "turn their lights on"

They were pissed at everyone and everything after 3 days. Especially the ones running generators. They actually would yell out at night that they were going to burn these motherfrickers houses down who has generators.

My power still isn't on either. I'm around Burbank staring area. Half the fricking neighborhood has power but my street doesn't. Every time I call Entergy, I hear something different. Now they are telling me it should be restored tomorrow, but my neighbor just said they told him no one was even dispatched to the area. Basically calling them doesn't help. They are just talking to put someone in your ear

I keep checking the outage map on their website, and the green (restored power) on the map is trickling down all around my neighborhood.....just not my street

My power is back on, but the map still shows it red, so I'm not sure how accurate it is.

Well my power was back so I brought everything back to my place.

But...

The sewage is turned off and there is no cable. Back to where I was....

It's updated when the circuit is energized.. The number of hits Entergy's website has, slows down the updates a bit.. This was on the news this AM..

The point of this thread and what some people here understand is the poor communication between the energy companies and their employees and their customers.

their communication has never been better, with the advance of social media. you obviously weren't tuned in.

Our circuit is definitely energized, but it's still showing our power as being out. It's not that big of deal to me since I have power, but I just wanted people to know in case that map was their only way to check.
