The "new" indicator gif doesn't seem to work as it used to

Am I alone in this observation?
Previously, the gif appeared on the page whenever I made a new post. Now it doesn't.
Has something changed?

No.
It used to show the NEW gif upon making a new thread or post. Doesn't work that way any more for some reason.
