I live for the approval of my peers. I believe there should be an easily-accessible way for me to see how funny people think I am without having to click on each individual post.

Meh, I think the reason you can't vote from the post history page is because it would be too easy to downvotes every post from a certain user. The current setup makes serial down voters work for it.

It could show them, but not be able to up/down vote on that page

Probably. But you know how many help threads would be started saying "I can't downvote posts from the post history page".
If you can see it, you tend to assume you can use it.
