ideas for hurricane/weather related threads

1) Significant weather board: Have a board for significant weather events with a stickied/locked updated info thread where a few designated admins with meteorology knowledge/background (rds, geauxmedic, bay, myself, rt3, duke, etc) can post updates to help keep clutter to a minimum. allow those admins the rights to police the board to keep erroneous info/idiocy to a minimum.

2) have the same but with a single "official info" thread on the OT where only those with reasonable knowledge can post to it and allow general discussion on the topic in other threads while allowing those with knowledge to police it.

Being in Louisiana affords us the opportunity to see many significant weather events that can strike at any time (hurricanes, floods, etc.) where information is valuable and necessary for the public to make a sound decision to protect life and property. The current set up allows for valuable information from valid sources to be buried in threads that are hundreds of pages long. having a locked thread where only those with knowledge can post and allowing those same people to police the general discussion will go a long way in helping keep information on track and helping people make sound decisions. the fact of the matter is a lot of people look to this site for info during situations due to availability of info. making changes in how weather related events are treated and information is relayed for these events can go along way in helping many people make sound decisions.
