How feasible is a 'night mode'?

The white background is blinding at night. It would be a nice little feature to be able to switch to a darker background.

ETA: Pretty please. :)

Some new CSS and a script here and there to switch automatically depending on time and timezones

If you have an iPhone it has "Night Shift" under Display & Brightness. I'm sure Android has something similar

If you use Firefox, there's an Add-On called "Dark Background and Light Text" that you can download for free which lets you change the colors of the background, text, non-clicked links and clicked links as well as highlight color to any colors you want. I use it always and love it.

What about chrome?

I'm not talking about using my phone like everyone assumes for some reason. It's for my laptop which is bright as frick even at the lowest brightness.

ETA: I'm looking for something like Twitter's night mode

And a handy dandy button?

Not sure. Mainly use Firefox but I'm sure they have something similar as well.
