The overall design of the message boards is quite minimal and sleek, and definitely looks superior to most other boards. However, there are a few design motifs that still seem to be remaining from the designs in the early to mid 2000s, which give the message boards a somewhat outmoded feel.
- Vertical lines separating the columns
- Underlined text for thread titles
The latter is actually somewhat unique to TD. I haven't been able to find another decent looking message board that still underlines text for thread titles and usernames. The mobile version of TD features non-underlined text, and it really does look much cleaner... --Full image-- --Full image--
Notice how cleaner and less "busy" the boards look without the underlining of thread titles and user names.
The vertical lines tend to give the board a "spreadsheet" style feel, and many forums have done away with such designs completely.

So, just a recommendation on some subtle improvements to the look of the boards. Both the underlining of thread text and the vertical lines were staples of website design in the early and mid 2000s. I think the aforementioned modifications may provide TD with a slightly more contemporary and "cleaner" look.
