Heavy Metal?
Rap?
EDM?
Classical?

I've never really been a metal head so I hardly listen to it while lifting unless it's blaring over the gym's sound system.

I typically bounce between rap and some sort of EDM station on pandora; usually Lil Wayne/Drake/Boosie or the Prodigy.

If I'm about to lift some heavy shite for a 1RM attempt, I may flip to this...

It has to be hard rock or gangster rap.

Depends on my mood. Some days I'll listed to a podcast, some days it's rap or metal.

Normally use Amazon Music -

90s Alternative
Top Prime Songs
Top Prime County Songs
Top Prime Rock Songs
Top Prime Classic Rock Songs
Top Prime Alt Rock Songs
Top Classical Songs
etc.

I like to listen to good music, so I avoid Rap and EDM.

I have never been able to lift with earbuds in my ears so I listen to whatever is on the gym radio. It's usually the crappy soft rock station (Toto, maroon 5, Phil Collins, etc). it sucks, but whatever.

My running playlist has a variety of songs from Bruno Mars to Metallica that are in the 158-160 ish BPM range

Typically I have my headphones in for my main lifts. I put on some song with a really big drop and it gets me fired up to move that weight.

After my main lift, I listen to whatever is on in the gym and talk to my workout partner.

If I'm having a beer, or just chilling somewhere, sure.

..but at the gym, the last thing I want to be is relaxed.

I used to feel the same way. Got some Bose SoundSport bluetooth headphones and it is one of the best purchases I've ever made. They fit perfectly in my ears and I usually can barely tell they're there (except for the music )

Edit: fixed the quote

Teenage dream came on my pandora and I didn't turn it off.
