I have been wanting to start a meal prep thread myself.

For me, I have found using instant pots (programmable pressure cookers) has been a game changer. When I have more time, i can post more info

Tips:

1) To reduce time, get the frozen steam bag veggies. used to buy fresh produce, and sweet god it took forever. Frozen bags take no time and its the same stuff.

2) Learn to like brown rice. It's the cheapest carb I know of. Quinoa has slightly better stats but its like 5x the cost.

3) use chicken broth or beef broth instead of water when cooking rice. Tastes way better

4) Utilize an Instant Pot and even the oven simultaneously.

5) cook enough to freeze half of the protein so you have meals for the following week cooked as well.

6) Invest in an electric food scale. If you are serious about weight loss, then eye-balling the amounts won't do. I use a half cup, and full cup measuring cup for rice and veggies. And I try to do 100-150 grams of meat for my protein generally.

I will post more later if i think of more.

Love my instant pot. Haven't really cooked much in it outside soups and cheesecake though

Awesome advice! I have tried Brown rice and still can't get over the taste. Give me some instant pot recipes please. I tried doing steel cut oats in mason jar this morning, and it came out absolutely awful

Well i cook brown rice in the instant pot on the Multi Grain setting. Turns out fluffy and good.

For meats, i just throw them in there with a cup of broth and set it to whatever the standard is for Poultry or Meat/Stew. Always turns out good.

Tons of recipes online, if i need one, I just google it

Anabolic Cook book

gourmet nutrition

I meal prep every week. I use Recipes from the above two books and add fats or carbs to meet my macros. I also google a lot of times. Plenty of great recipes, just have to sub ingredients to meet macros

Tips:

1) Keep it simple. Dont try and prepare 100 different meals. Keep to protein and carbs and veggies unless doing keto, then cut the carbs.

2) buy the disposble aluminum sheet pans from Sams/Costco in bulk.

3) buy baking grills to easily grill meats and keep them from sitting in their own juices.

4) use instapot and steamer to your advantage. i.e. cook rice and veggues at the same time.

5) do veggies and carbs in bulk.. Sweet potatoes/ rice/ oats work really well as carb sources. Veggies that can be baked like asapargus/onions/ peppers/ muschrooms work really well to add volume to meals and are extremely easy to cut up, throw a tad bit of oil and salt and then bake until done. Makes life easy.

6) dont be afraid to eat meals over and over. Dont get carried away were all you eat is one meal, but if you like a meal and it fits your macros, nothing wrong with having it everyday.

I agree with this, but quinoa is not to bad if you buy in bulk from Costco.

Costco is awesome for buying healthy foods in bulk. I really started getting into meal prep after I got my Costco membership.

here's a surprisingly good snack I've been using, especially before bed

.5 cup of low fat cottage cheese
can of tuna
sriracha

let it chill for about 20 minutes and eat.

haha, can only imagine the smell when you pee.

Point is, its easy. Other veggies like sliced zuchini and squash work well, so does egg plant. Just have to keep it simple and not try and be a damn iron chef for every meal.

His stuff is good, his preps could be way quicker with steam bags. Found out about those on Remington James' Youtube channel.

Using those two and Fit Couples Cook, I've learned a good amount not only about fitness but cooking tips in general.

You could chop up your grilled chicken and make a rice bowl of sorts. That's what I usually did.

Right now i have two different meals in the fridge. Round steak with green beans and brown rice. And chicken breast with sweet potato.

Get yourself a slow cooker, throw whatever meat you want in there with a chopped onion and half a chopped bell pepper. Add water, and cook for 4-6.5hrs depending on the meat. I usually do chicken breasts, round steak, and boneless pork chops.

Easy af.

I eat a lot of grilled chicken salad. I cook 24 breasts on my gas grill at once. Line them up north south position. I have a big pan that you can cook a turkey in to marinate. Cook each side on low for 30 minutes. Freeze the unused and you have delicious grilled chicken for a month. Saves on time, marinade and propane.

I usually just grab a 30 minute marinade and a fat free Italian dressing for marinade and just add some seasoning.

Wal-Mart will mark down their chicken a couple of days before it goes bad. They put big yellow stickers on them. I get 4 packs, usually has 6 per.
