I started taking NSAIDs about five years ago when dealing with minor injuries or inflammation. I've slowly increased the frequency that I use them, now about 2-3 times/month (always the recommended dosage, such as 2 Aleve or Ibuprofren).

I would consider using them more often but concerned about long term effects, which I assume to be mostly internal organ and bleeding.

What is the typical usage that is considered to be safe for long term (i.e. 30-40 years).

You can double the daily recommended dosage and be fine.

I take Advil nearly every day. I’m screwed. Is anything else safer?

Duexis. It's 800mg of ibuprofen with Famotidine for your stomach.

Once went to the emergency room only to find out i had bursitis in my shoulder.. they gave me 800mg ibuprofens. Charged me 500 bucks and sent me home.

Now if i feel a flare up i just take 4 ibuprofen...

Or really anything.. 4 is the magic number.

It's common to prescribe 800mg every 8 hrs

This is considered the max daily dose, but there's no way of knowing if taking that amount and for how long would possibly cause issues. Everyone tolerates meds differently.

Shouldn't be a regular thing at all.

1.) there's the risk of gut damage that we've known about for some time
2.) more recent data suggests a strong correlation with heart attack and stroke, even without abuse
3.) counters the effects of training, because the inflammatory response is a good thing (to an extent)

If you really need something in the event of a tweak, I suggest Curcumabsorb, which I have found to be absolutely legit.

There are also studies that show aspirin reduce the severity of heart attack and stroke. There are also studies that show high correlation between inflammation and certain cancers, making low dosage daily aspirin a good thing.

So what's the answer? No one fricking knows.
