What kind of workout are you doing?
If I'm doing a CrossFit/circuit training workout with heavy lifting I'll need 20oz of water in me with a protein bar and some nuts maybe hard boiled egg
If you're just doing the elliptical just prob like a protein bar if that

I say protein bar but I'm talking about something like an Rx bar or Larabar. All natural ingredients

Mostly cardio. Walk/jog (training for 10k) and swimming. Light lifting three times a week.

I usually have unit PT in the morning or go on my 3 to 5 mile runs in the AM on an empty stomach.
