Any of you ever had an AC joint injury? Last week my AC joint was tender but I worked out anyways. The last 3 days it's been painful to pick up my kids, lay on the shoulder, etc.

Just looking to see what you did at home to cure it. Just rest, ibuprofen? If it doesn't get better this week I'm getting this thing injected!

If it hurts DO NOT do it.

I had impingement syndrome. Bench press was impossible. It's the type of injury that only has setbacks.

You "working through it" is equal to having a sprained ankle and purposely rolling that ankle a couple times a week.

Rest. Rest. Rest.

I've had AC joint issues for a while. It's really bad when I fish a lot, or shoot hoops. It does fine when I rest it, but my life is pretty active. I'm sure just repetitive injury from my football, basketball days when younger has set some arthritis in it. Talked to my orthopedic surgeon and he's like just remove the joint, as it's not that structurally important, but just can't do it..

Felt it bad after I did a lot of chest last Sunday. Then shoveled a truck load of dirt. Haven't worked out since Thursday.

I plan to swim, bike, run for a week or two and just work out legs.

Work on your upper back. Crossover Symmetry for the win.

I partially seperated mine not to long ago. You'll need antiinflammatory and maybe oral steroids.

Layoff straight bar bench and work your upper back and rotator cuff. DB bench does not bother me.

I started doing 4 things and mine has not bothered me for the last 2 years.

1. Turkish Get Ups
2. Yoga
3. Joint Mobility Drills every morning
4. Low Volume workouts (the days of 100s of push ups are over)

Also, anytime i do something out of the norm that involves the AC joint i take aleve. Working in the yard is an example.
