80 yrds - 52 utility

120 yrds - 52 again

130 yrds - PW

My game is screwy in the range, but I have it worked out pretty good I guess.

My problem is I just do not hit my PW or 56 that good on longer shots. I can hit my 52 about as far as my PW. And I can only get about 75-80 max yrds out of my 56, but not confident with that club. I just do not hit the PW or 56 well for some reason. Im very good with my 52 from 60-125 yrds. I have my distances down with that club. I know my 60 yrd swing, my 80 and 100 yrd swings and my full swing which is 125 on the money.

I only use my 56 right around the green and in the sand.

Something is off if you hit your PW and 52 120-130yds and only hit a 56 80 yards max.

80 yds - 56° 3/4 swing
100yds - 52° 3/4 swing
120yds - 52° full swing or 3/4 PW depending on the day
130yds - choked up pw

I generally try not to take a full swing with my wedges. I'll do it on occasion with the 52° but never with the 56° or 60°, it's just not comfortable for me.

I know but I cant figure it out. I feel like when I hit a full 56, I whisp the ball and dont get a solid hit. Even moving the ball a bit further back in my stance, doesnt feel like it helps. I seem to hit it way too high, which is okay in certain situations.

It's not a huge deal to me since I'm very content with my 52 at those distances. I may go to the range today and mess around with my wedges. Wouldnt mind getting a little practice in with my short game. Will take my 14 year old and let him practice his short game too.

80 - smooth 56
100 - smooth 52
120 - full 50
130 - smooth PW

Smooth = Just swinging the club and letting it do all the work

Here lately my 56* and 52* have been going about the same carry with a full swing. Idk if I'm closing the sand or opening up the gap. It's annoying.

80 - Almost full swing 56*

120 - PW or 9 iron, depending on whether I'd rather miss short or long

130 - 9 or 8 iron, same thinking as choosing between my 9 or PW for 120.

My irons are Ping G10's which really launch the ball, which is great when I'm trying to hit greens, but I hit them about 5-10 yards shorter than the old TaylorMades I had.

Sounds like you're not shifting your weight to the lead foot properly.

I hit a ton of wedges when I practice. Due to lift it is easy to hit any wedges high on the club face with a full swing (higher lofts). I always have most of my weight on my left (front foot) play ball about middle (maybe slightly back in stance and focus on hitting down on the ball and finishing with a 3/4 follow through. This helps me control flight, control spin and make solid contact every time.

If you try to add distance with a wedge by swinging harder the natural result will be to hit the ball higher and lose accuracy and distance control.
