What do y'all think of Bayou Oaks?

Have played twice and absolutely love it. Greens are amazing for new greens, fairways are super wide and perfect and the holes have character IMO.

Pretty lame.
Costs $108 (the best part IMO).
The scenery sucks.
Range sucks.
Clubhouse is lame.
I give it a 3/5 only because the actual course is pristine.

I heard they have already lowered the greens fees. Is that true?

medtiger played last week or so. Said it was $100.

Maybe my hopes got too high when I heard how much they were spending, but man, I just don't see where the $24 million went. And Net is right, the range sucks. I could care less about the clubhouse, but spending $100 and then having to walk across Filmore to hit off the mats is weak.

Greens fees are down to $69 now, which I believe was always the plan once summer got here.
I mostly agree with the OP. I've played it twice, and the first time I was underwhelmed because I had heard all the talk about moving the Zurich there in a couple of years. I don't think that course can host a PGA Tour event in its current state. Maybe I'm wrong, but I just think the tour pros will go really low out there. I say that because they already tear up TPC LA which is much more difficult. As you stated, the place is wide open, there's very little trouble that isn't also accompanied by a no-brainer place to bail out, and the green complexes are really simple. In my 2 rounds, I don't think I had a putt that broke more than 18 inches (however, in full disclosure, the pins were in the same locations during both of the rounds I played). Not to mention that the entire practice facility needs to be torn up and redone to host a tour event.
As a public golf course in the middle of Nola, I think it's great. It's in good shape and is very playable for all skill levels of golfer. It's long enough to challenge scratch players and simple enough for duffers to not spend 6 hours out there. It's definitely worth playing at $69, especially if you have any recollection of what was there before this course was built.

I really enjoyed it. Fun course off the tee because of the width. I didn't lose a ball. Greens and bunkers are terrific. Fairway shaping/contouring is unremarkable. They could have done more there. One of the par 4's is insanely long. Hole 13. I hit a good drive and had a FW in. Might have been into the wind that day. Wasn't crazy about the Par 3 14th either. It was well over 200 with an odd angle, water tight all up the left and bunkers tight on the right. I had a good round going, so I felt like I had to "lay up" on that one to not risk a blow up.
Agree with the sentiments on the Driving range. For $100, you shouldn't have to hit off rubber matts.
I think it's a really good course overall. I know I'd rather play there than TPC, Lakewood, Carter, Pelican Point, Santa Maria, etc..

Buy the NOLA Card and play TPC at $59 whenever you want. I can't justify paying more than the $59 to play City Park when I can play TPC.

When did you play? We were discussing the possibility of having a Client Tournamanet out there, and they originally said they were planning to aerate "the week of June 9".
But with the weather, I'm assuming it was pushed to late last week or even this week?

solid course, but very easy. Worth about 50-60$ to play.

I think that's fair, and that's what it will end up being when they can't get enough people to pay $70.

The easiest course in the area IMO. Zero penalty for missing fairways.

I looked into this last year when I was out there, and they told me there's a 2 day booking window with the NOLA card. I asked what happens if someone else makes a tee time and asks me to play a week ahead of time, and I was told I couldn't use the NOLA card in that scenario. I passed.

They are very lenient with this.

Pelican Point is $66 on the weekend. They have a deal that's like the NOLA Card. I can't see doing that over TPC.
