Member-Member format question

I played today in our member member. It's a small club only 12 teams entered. I was informed right before we tee off that they weren't going to use handicaps. Just straight up. My partner and I, a 13 and 24 handicap are supposed to play a team of scratch golfers straight up. I just don't understand how anyone would think this is a fair format.

85 a person. Money wasn't the issue. But when you enter you would like to think if you shoot your handicap you'll be in the running.

Yesterday I was told it was going to be handicapped. Today was told no handicaps. I didn't want to play but my playing partner wouldn't back out. I was like we members we can still play right after.

Best ball stroke. The scratch golfers shot 64. I played my best round in a while and shot 78. My parter didn't cut me a hole as a 24 I wouldn't expect him to help too much. This was my lowest tournament round I had ever posted.

Playing your best round and being down 14 strokes isn't exactly an awesome feeling. I'm not mad really, I just don't understand why someone would think this is a fair format. I've been practicing a lot lately so my round made me feel it was worth the practice hours. However who wants to pay money to tee it up and know you're just donating. It's more disappointing that these are the people that run our tournaments and I won't be participating in these formats going forward.

Dropping a 78 as a 13 and not getting paid is some crap. I'd be pissed. Good round though
