How much did a fitting help you?

In the market for a new driver and am thinking about going the professional fitting route. I currently have the TM RBZ and feel like I should be hitting it much further than I do when compared to distances I hit my other clubs. I typically hit it about 250ish which is consistent with what I hit my 3 wood. Both have 'stiff shafts'.
Anyone been fitted and where the results afterwards noticibly different than just buying off the shelf with the stock shaft?
Go to a professional fitter or just the guys at the Golfsmith stores? Would think a professional would have a better shaft selection.

right shaft
The right shaft, and lie of the clubs will make a tremendous difference.

Had a driver fitting with James Leitz. Noticeable improvement. He moved me to a X Stiff shaft (previously played Stiff). I picked up ball speed and the misses got smaller than before. I recommend it.

More than I thought it would, to be honest. Really was a great decision to finally do it. I've only gotten fit for a driver, gained at least 15-16 yards on average.
Doesn't sound like much, but that's a club less approach on average for every tee ball. That's pretty legit.

I haven't done it, yet at my age I need to, I'm not hitting it longer these days, even with technology, my numbers seem to stay the same no matter what I have in my bag, a good outdoor fitting could probably help me tremendously.

I need to do it. I just don't want to replace anything I have because I like it all so much. My lie angles could be adjusted a little, maybe.

Helped me tremendously. Proper lie angle and correct shaft made a huge difference in my ball striking consistency

A friend of mine got fitted for irons at Edwin Watts in Metairie. They did a half-arse job with him because he had never been fitted before and didn't know that they weren't doing their due diligence. Didn't put him on a lie board and recommended he go with 2-up on his lie based on his measurements. He took them to Edwin Watts in BR and they put him on a lie board and realized that he needed a standard lie. If you have never been fitted before, I think it's a good idea to watch some videos of club fittings before you go to get fitted so that you know what to expect and what types of questions to ask.

There was a guy on the Santa Maria range with a titleist staff bag and a tracman yesterday giving a wedge fitting. Maybe call up the pro at SM and ask about him or someone here will chime in with contact.

The No Laying Up podcast had Rory on and they asked him about one of the host's trackman numbers from the pro am. Rory basically told him bc of his launch angle and spin rate, he is losing yards.
If you look at what Rory said he hits his iron and how far I hit my irons, we are a club or two off. We are more than 100 yards off on our best drives.
If you can go in there and get properly fitted with the right shaft to get the optimal spin rate, I can't imagine you won't gain yardage, unless your current club was a lucky pull.
The problem is: 1- you have to find someone who is really knowledgeable, not Billy from Dick's who is a 14 handicap, and 2- you've got to be willing to spend the money it costs to get the best club. There probably won't be a deal to be had.

They are great for the average hacker who wants to buy the latest and greatest. But every single one of their guys has some biased opinion on club manufacturer. I was in there yesterday and one of the guys was telling a customer that Callaway was the only way to go because all the other clubs were junk. I go there to peruse the used club section for impulse buys on cheap gear
