I've seen the article below several times and I'm glad theres a forum now to share it on. I try to do my best to hit shots in a line while practicing, but at what point does it become futile when I see the next 5 guys down from me hacking out a fresh divot with each swing? What say you golf board??

The problem is that they don't know the proper way to take divots on a driving range: in neat lines separated by bands of intact turf, as in this diagram from the USGA:

I always do the pattern on he right. I can’t stand the divots in a line crap. I am pretty sure tiger started that and all the young bucks copied him.

I would describe my swing as a picker, not a digger. If I take a divot, I've chunked it badly.

I do the linear but I concentrate it. So

Having grass in between lines bothers me. Celebration heals fast enough anyway. It’s more important to have enough room and move it daily. With good drainage and sand applied.

I agree with and make the linear divots when on the range. Learned to do that when working on a golf course back in the day. It makes a difference and I wish everyone did it.

I try to do the linear pattern, but it still winds up looking like the pattern on the left. I'm doing good to just hit the ball.

This... if you've worked at a golf course before you understand which is easiest to re-sand and re-grow. Lines people... always lines.

Looks like two lines of coke. I’ll remember that now.

I do the linear. My OCD drives it more than helping the course but glad it helps.

We talkin' about PRACTICE?

I guess this would be the proper version of my practice.
