Soldier’s Creek- Never played it, but it is owned by the Woerner’s (Turf company), so I assume the grass is green.
Peninsula- If you are going to drive there, play Kiva Dunes.. if you can’t afford it, play Gulf Shores Golf Club (now known as “The Wharf”), but if you play Peninsula, enjoy an apple from the barrel between nines.
The Wharf- Great course, one of my favorites in Alabama. Difficult layout, but fair.
Craft Farms- Nice but nothing special. You will leave your round and say “wow, that was a well-kept course, but something I could have played in Baton Rouge.” That statement applies to both courses.
Kiva Dunes- It is the quintessential gulf coast golf course. It’s just off the beach and is home to some of the most picturesque holes in the South. It is unbearably difficult from the tips with the wind, but from up a tee, it becomes manageable and fun. It is always in good shape and has an excellent practice facility.
Perdido Bay Golf Club- Nice, but difficult. It is in close proximity to Lost Key.
Lost Key- known as Lost Ball. That should tell you everything you need to know.
GlenLakes Golf Club- you can book four people for like $17 a person. It’s a nice course as well. Definitely the best bang for your buck, by far.
Definitive Ranking of all East Alabama, West Florida Golf Courses
1- Kiva Dunes
2- Gulf Shores Golf Club
3- Craft Farms (either)
3- Glenlakes Golf Club
3- Peninsula
6- Perdido Bay Golf Club
7- Lost Ball
The tie for three is based on what you are looking for out of your golf round.
As always, stop and play Rock Creek on the way up or back.

I played this course two summers ago when I went with my wife's family. I went out by myself on like a Wednesday afternoon and had the course pretty much to myself. I got my round done in about 2.5 hours. It was a well kept course and you cant beat the price.

Soldier's Creek
Great course for the money.
I like to play that, then Peninsula the following day.
SC was also the first place I ever took my daughter out for 18 holes. Fell asleep on 18's fairway, so she doesn't have an official score for that round.

I love the layout of this one.
Usually in good shape too.
Used to host a PGA Tour tournament.

You're kind of right, but I love the layout of Craft Farms. It's honestly one of my favorite courses around there, and I've played most all that have been listed.

Gulf Shores Golf Club was a fun course, very nice. Pricey, but that may be the norm down there.

I've only played Craft Farms (both courses) down there and it was alright but really really short

I recommend making the drive to Fairhope and playing Rock Creek.

I think its called the Glen Lakes is where it's at. I got a hot deal off of Golf Now for $19 a person and its the best course I've played for that kind of money. Back nine has some very interesting approaches.

You're right about the value, but I didn't love it. If you don't want to spend a Ben Franklin then yeah. I played the state park on Golfnow for like $25 and thought it was way better. That was during the fall, though, so may be more now.

Kiva Dunes end of discussion

I played craft farms and by the time we got to 16 we were all ready to just go back to the beach. Really doesn't do much for me. Enjoyed gulf shores golf club a lot more.

This is a good list.
Glen Lakes is good value. There are 3 nines, the Vista and Dunes are a the better 18, the Lakes is not as nice. But based on quality alone it would be further down my list. Some interesting holes, fun course but 90% lined with homes and can get stuck behind some older playing foursomes.
Soldier Creek is another value option. While previous poster is correct, I believe ownership is in the Woener family. The course is not related to the turf business (i.e. This is not a show course or test course for their product ala Farm Links up in Sylacauga, Al.). I like playing at Soldier Creek to avoid crowds and it is a quiet course, not lined with homes and was cut into a heavily wooded area. Not the toughest course but most fairways are tree lined so keeping it between the trees is necessary. Also this seems like a course that has been hit with financial issues which isn't surprising based on the low level of play, I hope they keep course alive because I love this quiet course.
Another underrated option is Gulf State Park. Reminds me of the old Bayou Oaks East and West courses (City Park, New Orleans). Again good value and can avoid crowds at Craft Farms, Peninsula, Keva, etc.
