Is this course any good? Looking to play in a few weeks and it seems to be the best one I could find in Bossier

It's alright. It's the best place you can get on without a member in Shreveport probably. If you are willing to drive Trails End in Arcadia is about 30 minutes away but it's a decent tract.

Greens can be a bit inconsistent, but it's a nice layout for the price. It has rolling hills so a lot of holes have elevation change. If you've never played it I'd say it's worth it to try at least once.

Stonebridge was in good shape 10 years ago but some management nightmares have changed it drastically. I haven't played it in several years but have heard it's in poor shape. It's a fun layout though, and there are not many better public course options available here.

I am usually running to Monroe from H-town and there isn't alot of selection in Monroe. I wouldn't mind another option outside of driving to Delhi to play Black Bear.

If you were running all the way to Monroe, and you are talking about a weekday round, call Calvert Crossing in Calhoun and you can probably get on without too much of a hassle. Course had some problems two years ago but they hired Honours Golf/Troon Golf to manage it and it has really turned things around. It is second only to Squire Creek in NELA (Bayou Desiard is having serious issues with its greens this year).

Also, if you have time, Mystic Creek in El Dorado, Arkansas is worth the drive. Awesome course but they still have a temporary pro shop. On the upside, I believe you can still bring your own food and drinks.

I used to play Calvert alot but I thought they were 100% private now?????

I have heard nothing but good things about the Mystic Creek Course in El Dorado but that's a trek from Monroe.

I've played Calvert and BD, although it was 10+ years ago. I loved BD, crazy that CC is now the preferred course of the two...

Most courses seem to have a down year from time to time. This just happens to be the year BD is struggling. As mentioned before, Calvert had its struggles a couple years ago.

If both courses were in top shape, I would say Calvert is the better course but Bayou Desiard has better facilities and that "old school" country club atmosphere.

Calvert is private but they would likely allow a weekday round from someone coming from out of town. That may change in the near future as they have picked up almost 100 new members since the Spring.

I guess I could throw the I know the Robertsons since I actually do know Jase line at them if they turn me away. I think he actually spends most of his time out there when not on a speaking engagement.

Jase is a member and pretty serious about golf. I don't think you would have resort to playing that card. Just call and talk to the GM (Matt) and I bet he will let you play a guest round. Calvert is private, but they have a pretty friendly attitude towards guest play.

The course was in great condition a few weeks ago so it should still be good. Played Crooked Hollow in Greenwood as well and it was in nice shape

How did you like it. I helped build the new nine holes years ago. Never got a chance to play it.

I played in January. Greens were nice. Holes 4-9 are fun. Pro shop is awful.

I liked it. Have to have good tee shots, which I was having that day thank goodness. Not the hardest course, but I like the hills and minor elevation changes on some holes. Very nice owner. I was by myself and after i finished 18 he was outside. He asked if I was done and told me I could replay the back 9 since they were mowing the greens which didn't really cause me any problems. I did end up replaying some holes since he offered
