Hybrid is the way to go. I have Callaway XHot 3 and 4 hybrids. Love 'em. I have actually found them to be pretty workable too. I can go high, low, draw, fade just like my old irons, but I am way more consistent as far as ball striking.

I hit a Taylormade rocketballz 5 hybrid 200-210. Love that club.

4i or 3i depending on wind
210-230 5w
230-250 3w
210-230 5w
230-250 3w

This yardage is my crux. I have 4 wedges, and a 3&5 wood, so I do not have a 3 iron. I either have to bust a 4 iron, or lay off a 5 wood...
But the trade-off is I have more versitility from the yardages that really count...125 and in. I would suggest you strengthen your 4 iron in your case.

The 2nd generation of that club comes out soon. Looks clean

Check out the Srixon U65, it's a utility driving iron type that they make in 20 & 23 deg. I think it looks awesome

I had that club for a while. Felt awesome! Only issue is the stock shaft sucks. And the tip is 355 so good luck finding something else good to go in it

If there is no hazard in front of green, three iron. If hazard 3 hybrid.

Depending on wind and carry needs it's either a 4i or a punch 5w

If you are really good with your wedges, there's no shame in laying up to a comfortable number, say 75-80yds, and sticking the approach. Secret to lower golf scores, for most amateurs, is eliminating the big numbers on holes.

what does this mean?
you shouldn't be trying to help the ball get up, that sounds like your problem. go out and hit your 3 W and try to make a divot after the ball.

Tight lies. The ball isn't sitting up in the fairway often.
