Xenoblade Chronicles X (2015)

I've always known about the Xenoblade series but have never bought one of the games and dove into it. However, after watching some videos and reading up on Xenoblade Chronicles X, it looks like that's going to change. THIS is the open world game that Nintendo has been needing for the Wii U. It looks like one of the more beautiful open worlds that I've ever seen. I hope this game lives up to the hype because I'm wanting it bad.

During a recent hands-on session with X--which launches in Japan this month but won't be out in North America until later this year--a PR representative for Nintendo told me that I could walk literally anywhere within the game's five continents. You can run to and through all of them, she said, and can climb up and over pretty much any structure you see. My demo began in a series of valleys nestled among large craggy hills, with sides made up of steep rock faces at an unforgivingly sharp angle. I didn't think I could make it up most of these organic structures of stone and earth, but I was going to try.
To my delight, you absolutely can climb up anything you see. You can't scale a sheer rock face, but if you find a craggier area or a grassy slope to climb, you can get to the top. It's more like jumping upwards repeatedly than climbing, but it is what it is. Giant islands being held in the sky by sloping pillars of rock can be surmounting by carefully running up the center of one pillar. And on top of these islands you can stare out into the distance, picking out more shadowed valleys and enticing crags, with titanic buildings shrouded in mist sitting tantalizingly on the horizon.

This will be the next game I get for the Wii U

Same. This game looks incredible. I didn't think the Wii U was powerful enough to pull something like this off.

Monolith does some very clever things with how they overlay textures on massive models and landscapes. It kinda reminds me of No More Heroes in that.

I just went to Gamestop, traded in my old 3DS for one of the new 3DS XLs and bought Xenoblade Chronicals 3D

I have my eye on this one but I still don't know much about it

I've been on this Hype Train since day 1. Everyone is waiting for Zelda (and I am too), but this is also a huge game this year.
I also think Splatoon has a lot of potential.
so by the end of 2015 (assuming no delays)
Mario 3D World
Mario Kart 8
Super Smash Bros
Wind Waker HD
Bayonetta 1/2
Hyrule Warriors
Pikmin 3
Monster Hunter 3U
Xenoblade X
Zelda
Starfox
Splatoon
Yoshi's Wooly World
Fatal Frame 5
WiiU has a pretty damn solid list of games.

Pushed back to 2016 unfortunately.

Xenoblade Chronicles quickly became a Top 5 RPG for me with FF3 and IV, Chrono Trigger, Dragon Warrior 3, and Suikoden 3. Yeah it's that good.
And I can't wait for X.

Right. I think I knew that, but forgot and just rolled with it.

You have a pc? Should have just played it on dolphin. A game of that size and those environments needs to be appreciated on a screen

You forgot tropical freeze. Probably the best game on the system thus far.

I have had a copy of Xenoblade Chronicles for about 3 years now, and I am shameful to say I have not played more than a hour or so.
I am gonna finally sit down and do this.

I take back what I said. If Starfox comes out before this game, I guess that's the next game I get for the Wii U. This is a must-buy though.

We have very similar taste.. Xenoblade Chronicles has been on my to do list but never got around to it. Sounds like I need to.

Just read an article that states the game runs in 720p 30 FPS.

What did you expect?
1080p 30 FPS
30 FPS should be the baseline framerate for every game on every console.
1080p should be the bare minimum resolution in 2015. Too much detail is lost with a 720p image blown up on a 1080p display, especially on larger screens. I would rather a game run in native 1080p even if the graphics aren't quite as good.
