So I had a launch style 360 that made it a few years before red ringing. I didn't use it much, maybe an hour or two a week so it dying was a huge surprise.
I got a 360 slim so I can still play the titles I spent 60 bucks each on.

Fast forward a few years and now I can't install Battlefield on my xbox because I don't really have a hard drive. So...yeah.

I'm done. I'm not buying another MS console ever again.

There is a 4gig internal that is not large enough to do anything but a few saved games. Far too small for the required BF install.

I'm just glad I did my homework so I didn't end up with a game that isn't usable on multiplayer.

Yeah, because that's a rational complaint.

I honestly don't know how you made it this far on 4 gigabytes. The slim with only flash memory is cheap as frick.

Sooooooooooo, I get why you'd be upset with the RROD. However you purchased the cheap-o version of the slim which doesn't come with an HDD (hence the price) and now you are upset?

I didn't want an expensive model because I didn't need the kinnect to play viva pinata.

When I was buying the console for the second time due to hardware failure I didn't think I needed the kinnect or the three times as expensive option. Turns out I only got an xbox 180. I can't play install require games.

You are assuming that people know and understand this. Microsoft made a weird decision at launch and continued it through out the life cycle of the 360.

There is a large portion of the country that don't under the difference between 4MB and 4TB.

There are many games that require a certain amount of hard drive space in order to even function. Space requirements are stated on the back of the box or in the game desciption on live.

Kinect is relatively useless, especially on the 360.

Your argument is invalid.

Huh, I purchased a slim w/ HDD without Kinect. In fact I never even considered purchasing kinect for the 360. There is a middle-ground purchase.

I get it, that sucks. I did the same thing, however I made sure the version I got had a hard-drive.

Stick to knighting for Bama on the redneck rant. We don't need any more retardation on this board.

I didn't realize that triple A titles like GTA5 or battlefield would require an install.
I don't really have a full 360 in the way mine works. Bizarre decision by MS.

edit:

I keep hearing people say "you shouldn't have gotten THAT 360 and should have payed double. My complaint is two-fold, that firstly this wasn't a problem when I purchased the console. I didn't know of a single 'install only' game at the time.

Secondly after having my 360 fail how was I supposed to know this one wouldn't fail? It's an honest question. My jimmies were rustled at my RROD.

So it's Microsoft's fault you didn't buy one with a bigger hard drive?

This is exactly the opposite of you doing your homework

Why would they offer a console that isn't able to operate on the games they like to advertise for the console. Bizarre decision.
People all around the country are having to buy memory sticks on their own expense so MS could save a few dimes in the construction of the 360 like I bought.

Terrible decision by MS. I'm done.

At the time I wasn't aware of a SINGLE game that required install.

In the event of RROD, you have three options:

Re-adopt. And get one with a hard drive with enough space to actually play something.

Give Microsoft the finger and play games on another platform.

Give up on gaming.

It is understandable to be upset with hardware failure, but the hardware failure rates are pretty much nonexistent on the newer versions of the console.

But you'd also have to assume that whether or not they understand the difference in storage capability, they could certainly understand the difference between $199 and $299, and logical person would at the very least question where the other $100 is going. And either research or ask a store associate. If not, then that's their own problem imo
