I'm thinking a cheap portable external HD with y cord to power it will work well

Anyone else done this?

Also, getting a invalid disc error when trying to put in a pre-owned. Going to return it today. Is this a common error?

Yes, I have a 120GB ADATA SSD in external enclosure. The games load faster on the external over the internal memory. Really fckking nutts if you think about it. If you decide to go this route, I can walk you through how to properly format the drive and which HDD will work.

As for the error.

1. Make sure you have upgraded to the latest System Update.

2. Make sure the disc is put in on the right side. lol

3. Return for money back?

That's the route I'd like to go.

As for the game, I'm placing it with the label face up. It's a new system. When I booted it up for the first time, there was no update. It told me my system was already updated. (which I thought was strange)

I've tried cleaning it multiple times. It shows the picture of the game but when I click start I get the error. So it is reading it to some extent.

I'd either like to exchange or for a working copy, or get money back.

Do this just for a check.

1. Go to Settings
2. Set up a connection and connect to the internet.
3. Go to System and check if you have the latest update.

Power cycle the wiiu with the disc out and try again. (Power Off then unplug the power for 15-20 seconds and reboot) If it doesn't work, then the game is fckked.

We can talk about using an external HDD with the WiiU later.

For the most part yes. Games load faster on the external over internal storage, even if I use a disc. It's fckking nutts.

Here is a list of what I have. Make sure to format the SSD before trying to get recognition from the WiiU. It was a pain trying to figure out which format the WiiU could see because at the time everyone on the internet said SSDs could not be used.

Format the drive to NTFS with your nVidia Powered PC before interesting in your Wii U.

Please buy whatever you want and honestly just the cheapest. Everything but the USB to Ethernet I had laying around.

Inateck 2.5" Enclosure USB 3.0

Y-Cable USB 3.0 Type A to Type Micro B

ADATA SP900 128GB SSD

Also HIGHLY recommend hard wiring your WiiU if you plan to play online. Here is what I use.

USB 2.0 to Ethernet
