Why is the 3DS XL harder to find than the Switch?

Serious question as you can't find these anywhere local, not a single retailer listed has them for purchase online and I can't figure out why. It's always sold well from my understanding, so is there a reason there isn't one to be found anywhere?
Also, the Galaxy one sort of blows. Any word on their next special edition model?

Wii U is gone, 3DS XL just had a new release a couple of weeks ago. Both will be harder to find because one is a dead platform and the other is winding down.

They literally just dropped a special addition this past month. Sounds like they're not phasing it out too quickly. I hope production has slowed because they're removing the TN screens from their production line.

It seems like you can only get special edition in small volumes. You can't just walk in and buy the normal 3ds new in stores.

They haven't shipped any new ones in months. What hasn't been sent back to Nintendo has just been slowly sold off shelves.
