Would it be exactly like in the video game. I expect that the military and government would be more quiet about it first.

If you're joking with me, I don't understand. I meant that an outbreak like that would have to start small. But I guess the cordeceps virus spread so quickly they couldn't monitor it.

i downloaded the game and played for two hours and then ran into a gamebreaking bug. Just said frick it and never started a new game.

In all seriousness, I would imagine the government would TRY to keep it under wraps for a while, but ultimately it would prove impossible.
That said, with the advent of video games, I think any "zombie-esque" scenario in the US would be over quickly. Too many guns, too many people know how to kill them. Basically the only way a zombie epidemic works is in an alternate universe where zombie fiction never took off like it did here.

Society would collapse super hard. Even if we knew about zombies and apocalypse scenarios, too many idiots would get the capable people killed right out the gate.

Still doesn't touch HL2 for me.
Its close though, no doubt the most recent since Bioshock: Infinite.
