I'm the same way, but Arkham City has pretty much nothing to do with Arkham Asylum other than that it's another Batman game by the same team.

If you are saying you haven't played the first Bioshock and therefore can't play Infinite, what's wrong with you? Bioshock is a must play. Play that one instead. ;)

Farcry 3 has nothing to do with Farcry 1 or 2. It's a standalone story. Same with GTA V.

I've never played any of the Killzone games, but I've heard they are pretty good FPS's. No idea how important the plot is.

I haven't beaten Borderlands 2, but they sum up the extremely shallow plot of the first game in the intro.

Regardless, just do what Mr Gardoki said and watch some Youtube summary videos. The way sequels are so common now days, you'll end up hardly playing anything if you are dead set on playing every previous game in a series.

I played infinite without playing bioshock 1 or 2. It works as a stand alone.

I can see that but:

1. The original Bioshock is such a unique experience, it's worth a play through, and even more so if you don't know the twist going in.

2. The callbacks in Infinite to the original game hit me pretty hard, in a way I don't think they would have if I hadn't played it.

But yeah, you could have a really enjoyable experience having never played the first (or the second) Bioshock. In fact, I have a friend who LOVED Infinite and hasn't even seen footage of the original game.

Wow! Really? I know you have a backlog that rivals mine, but you should play the original. It kind of unravels at the end, but it's a fun ride with an aesthetic you won't see any where else.

Just finished Uncharted and will work on Rage tomorrow.

I have never played any of the Bioshock games. I might check out some gameplay to see what it is like.

Did you like the ending of uncharted or the last couple of chapters? I personally thought it got stupid at the end there when the story twists.

I thought the ending was alright, but it kind of made the game feel like I did all this for nothing.

I just thought it was a cheap, easy, cliche ending.

Haven't played Halo 4 since launch week. Beating the campaign with a friend who needs help on Legendary. Such a cake walk. Looks like all those hours I invested in Halo 2 were still worth it

I hear ya, I am constantly hinting about how far behind I am. That's why I had to stop playing games that are too old, had to make cuts somewhere.

Yeah, I feel you on the old games. But I have missed out on major shite. Like I've never played Majora's Mask though I've had it since I was a kid.

I have a lot of games that I need to play before the PS4 release, but I don't think I will finish on time. So I guess I'll still be playing my PS3 even once I get my 4.

I still play some, like links awakening lately. I don't feel obligated to play everything though just to jump into a series.

BioShock infinite can't hold BioShock 1 or 2's fricking jock.

I'm so disappointed in Infinite I quit on it.

I thought the original Bioshock had a much more consistent universe, with gameplay and story elements that meshed almost perfectly. I haven't beaten 2 yet, but I'm underwhelmed so far.

What specifically didn't you like about Infinite?

There's no way I can play *every* noteworthy game so I just try to do some research to make sure I'm playing the stuff I'm almost certain I'll love.

Also, if a game continues to pop up in conversation after it's been released, I'll try to play those too just to understand why it's still on people's minds.

But, I know that stressed feeling. I've been relieving a little of it lately by making decent headway on some games I've been meaning to play for a while, and then I hear about 2 more games that just came out that I *know* want to play eventually.

Then you have the new consoles coming out and holiday releases. Cuts will need to be made. First world problems, I know.
