re: Valve will release its own console-like PC for the living room

I would at least look at spending a few buck more and getting 16GB ram. Not that you need it all but that APU uses system ram to run. It's like a GPU having on board memory. The APU doesn't so it has to use the system memory to function. That way your system still has at least 8GB and the APU has enough to function.

Just what I have heard.

yeah, I know. you're swaying me towards other things. I wish we had a microcenter. 2500k for 159 but it's in store pick up only. The closest one is atlanta.:/

Nah...I am not a snob about parts like some people can be. I like AMD and my current cpu is AMD but I am just a little leery of an APU based system because I don't have any experience with one.

Are you getting the GPU right away and crossfiring?

In that video they said you could only run Borderlands 2 at 12FPS on low with just the APU.

yes, plus later on I can get a better GPU like a 7850/7870. Rivalxfactor has a video about getting better FPS with low end systems. 80 FPS with a gtx460 and a 100 dollar amd quad core.

here's some benchmarks.

Gotcha

When you get set up I have a torrent for this. I like it way better than fraps.
