Ever since the EA Sports games went to last generation and rolling through the current generation (XB1/PS4) EA has had Ultimate Team features in addition to the basic gameplay.

Am I the only one who thinks it's dumb and just a waste of game space? I never use the feature, I play with the current roster that gets updated online anyway and I tweak sliders to make the gameplay more realistic to my skill. I just can't play Wayne Gretzky or Joe Montana with a current team, it doesn't seem right to me.

I wish they would add vintage championship or playoff teams and/or vintage stadiums/arenas to their sports games. I'd love to play Madden with every team having their old stadium or pre-renovated stadium (Soldier Field).

Ultimate Team mode is literally the most played mode on all of their games, and by a good margin.

It also makes them a TON of money.

So no, it's far from dumb or a waste of space.

I used to be the same way. I've been helping out the kids on their separate consoles and it's been pretty enjoyable. Point is the mini-games are quicker and then there's the goal of earning coin to upgrade your teams. With that said, I also had to teach the kids about gambling (online auctions for players).

I get they make money but I would rather pay extra for additional teams or stadiums ala Tiger Woods/Rory McIlroy Golf. Hell with Super Bowl 50 this season, I would think the NFL would push for Super Bowl teams and venues (Rose Bowl, Tulane Stadium, etc.) to be an additional feature for Madden.

It's not just that it makes money, it is the top played game mode on the games. Something like 62% most played mode on FIFA, is FUT. It's also the most played on Madden and NHL.

You may not like it or know much about it, whatever, but you're talking about removing the most popular game mode on their games for EA style DLC content.

C'mon man.

Yeah I don't really get the purpose of this thread. Ultimate team isn't going away nor should it.

No it is about the money, it brings in the majority of their revenue

They aren't exclusive. It brings in the majority of the revenue as a result of being the most played game mode.

NBA 2K has classic / all-time teams. I played with the 2002 Los Angeles Lakers against the 07-08 Boston Celtics last night.

I wish someone would do that too. Not just football--I'd love to play with the Fam-A-Lee or the Bronx Zoo Yankees, or have games at Forbes Field and Ebbets Field.
