I've had that trilogy sitting idle for at least a year

I have no desire to play anything until Witcher 3 unlocks tonight.

Even open world games, once I've beat the main story, it's difficult if not impossible for me to finish the rest. I'm even already done with GTA V. Probably because I pirated it and can't do the online stuff.

Yep. Everytime I see this brought up in a forum people overreact and say obviously you would rather a 4 hour game that charges you for DLC to make it better. Like there is no in between

I have to finish every side quest before I advance the main story. It's a disease.

I'm the same way. I can turn a 10 hour game into 25.

Yep, I'm the same way. Aside from the issue of having to live a life outside of gaming (kids, work, etc.), there's the distraction of other games. Conditions have to be perfect for me to do a long-haul playthrough of a game like this, and more often than not, I abandon it because I couldn't finish in time for the next anticipated game. For example, if I don't finish Witcher 3 before Arkham Knight, it's going to be tough to go back to it after I finish playing Arkham Knight to death, because I'm playing that one the minute it comes out. But the timing seems ok. I've exhausted my interest in all of the multiplayer shooters out right now, I'm done with GTA V, bored with Dragonball Xenoverse and MKX, and I have a solid month before Arkham Knight is released.

I want to finish it, the game is great. I just hate how long it has taken me

Then start doing co-op. You'll power through areas. I find the game a lot more fun with others.

The issue is me not having time to even boot up the game

My goal is to beat two bosses on Bloodborne tomorrow. This game is a great to take out on stress and anger.

This depresses me everytime I think about it, but Im single and don't have kids so that definitely helps. Heck, I actually just broke up with a girl I was dating for a little over a year because she finally decided to make an ultimatum of video games or her.

I still find myself wishing I had more time to play games though.

Geez. I can understand limiting or removing hobbies if they're self-destructive, but no fun hobby at all? Pretty rough.

Sounds like the relationship wouldn't have survived regardless of the ultimatum.
