The Order: 1886

I played about 3 hours of this game. I know it's getting slammed in reviews for the most part for being linear, cut scenes, repetitive, length etc.
This game has a great feel to it control wise and looks stunning. It sets the standard for next gen AAA titles. At times, the events and "controlling" them seems really forced. The game feels like a throwback to some of the best games in the PS2 era.
Overall, so far, I really like the story and setting. Ready at Dawn made an awesome world and the visuals, esp on the faces and eyes of the people in the game, are next to none.
I debated cancelling the preorder after reading about the length from that youtube guy and then most review outlets slamming it.
But I held out, preloaded and played at 2am and I'm glad I did, this game isn't a gamechanger or groundbreaking or anything, but it's a solid effort and the visuals and engine are next to none. The setting is amazing and the story is average but not terrible.
I really think this opens a new franchise for Sony, and like Uncharted, which the first game was mainly an engine build, and the final product had a non-finished feel to it, The Order has that same vibe. By the time Uncharted 2 came out and Naughty Dog had the engine down, UC2 has become one of the best games of last gen and is still regarded as one of the best PS3 games out there.
I get that vibe with The Order, this game is great, looks absolutely stunning, but overall the game feels like it was rushed to press, and sets up the sequel to be a force to be reckoned with.
I will add more to this thread after I finish it.

I'm leaning that way as well. People slammed the hell out of Watch Dogs but I still got a kick out of playing it. People tend to bash just about anything that isn't the second coming.
Plus I'm a sucker for good graphics.

That part of the hype train has been dead on.
I've played games my whole life, and even knowing this was a game, at times I had to remember I was playing a game and not controlling/playing a movie in real time. It is that realistic.
Also something I didn't mention in the OP, the sound direction on this game is unreal. The score, performed by an orchestra and the voice acting, sound design, is something special as well.

Yeah I'm with you on that. Part of the next gen experience to me is to see how far they can push graphical boundaries. There's been some pretty games so far, but this seems to be the pinnacle so far.
Even if it has its other downfalls, that's the reason I'll probably buy physical and then just trade it back in after.

The first one was fantastic.

Development teams need to shift to focusing on game play.
We are pretty much capped at graphics.
Newer ways to actually play games is what the industry needs desperately.
Constantly upping graphical prowess does nothing if the game play is not great or is stagnant.

Meh people keep saying that but there's always room for improvement.
Again it's not the end all be all, but I enjoy that aspect of it. That said there's plenty of games I'll play that aren't graphically superior that I still enjoy the hell out. Hell, I was playing the OG N64 version of Majora's Mask not long ago.

Don't get me wrong, I love UC1, it's a great game. But compared to UC2 it's basically a tech/engine demo.
What props the first UC game is the story, it is compelling. After playing UC2 though and going back to UC1, 1 is great, yes, but it doesn't hold a candle to UC2.
UC1 was the game that was the basis for UC2,3, and TLoU. I'm just saying with an engine as great at 1886 looks, while the game is overall great IMO, it's more of a setup for future games and this amazing engine.
Like UC1, 1886 has one thing that sets it in a league of it's own. The visuals and the setting (Lovecraftian Steampunk London) are worth a playthrough alone IMO.

Still waiting on that PSN ID to prove you even played TLoU. I see you exited the other thread without response.

Just like Arkansas football.
Talking all kinds of shite and then never delivering.
Schools really do take after their fans.

Hey, LSU losing last year ain't no big deal.
At least I got to enjoy a national championship during my time at LSU.
Sorry, let me define that word for you.
If you can't deliver, you shouldn't talk.
Post that there PS name, or are you just a blowhard like the Arky failship?

Hmmm opinion on an exclusive game that differs from nearly every review I've read and 90% of the comments I've seen on reddit.
...Let me check the posting history....
You went to a movie theater to watch Sony's E3 press conference.
