Giantbomb
- Very lively, does not feel empty at all
- Multiple towns
- sense of discovery unlike any other Zelda since the first Zelda
- constant feeling of accomplishment when discovering new stuff
- Discovered an area where enemies killed you in one hit
- Discovered first dungeon in 25 hours
- unlike with Skyward Sword, wasn't trying to push through the "bullshite" to get the first dungeon because they were enjoying the world of BOTW so much.
- no handholding, learn the mechanics through your own gameplay experiences
- All shrines so far can be solved with all the Stasis mechanics given early in the game
- going to be a "long" review, so much to talk about
- frame dips at times, specifically in towns with weather and NPCs effecting drops. Not frequent though
- graphically, it was strange to go straight from Horizon to BOTW but obviously they have totally different artsyles

I generally don't care about spoilers or whatever but I did come across one cutscene that I would've preferred to have experienced for the first time on my own. I'm a bit surprised it's not something that was in the list of things not allowed in the previews.
Yeah I think I'm done with previews except for excerpts from this thread, where, hopefully people are conscious of just posting the good bits.
However, like I treat movies reviews, I might just read the first two paragraphs and the last, usually that gives the impression without spoiling any specifics.

Appropriately, for a game where the only thing you have at the start is a pair of boxers and a voice in your head, it takes a while to find your footing. Hyrule doesn’t hold back, and the struggle can be frustrating. But that Breath Of The Wild dares to let you struggle is what makes those first hours so thrilling. Danger is good. Danger is what gives video games life. Breath Of The Wild has finally reconnected with something the series knew so well back when it debuted: Being in over your head is fun, and finding your own way forward will always be more rewarding than getting led there.
exactly.

frick this thread
I was finally starting to manage the wait and let my hype subside into just reasonable excitement.

I learned yesterday that there aren't actually any games coming out with the Switch so don't get too excited

What about the fact that we can carry this mass adventure with us anywhere we want to go?
Wanna sit on the porch and have a beer outside and tackle a Shrine? Sure.

more like i'm not quite finished and my wife says "do you want to come to bed?"
or my wife is watching something terrible and wants to hang out with me
or I have to take a paint the bathroom type shite
or I have to wait for 45 minutes in a waiting room to see the doctor who will then take an additional 45 minutes to just write the fricking prescription

Nah, this was the one. The one everyone knew about. The one also on the last gen console.

I should've preordered this damn thing.

After reading through and watching about 10 or so previews, it seems that Breath of the Wild is poised to receive numerous perfect scores when the embargo lifts.
This is shaping up to be one of those genre redefining titles.

Hyperbole much?
And I don't care that it is on last gen. I have no problem with that. Just making the point that people do a have a reason to gripe about the lack of games.

Glad the game looks great though. Wish I still had my Wii U to play it.
