This thread would've been a lot cooler one week from today

Years I've waited for this game. So many delays.

One reviewer definitely kicked my excitement into overdrive. He describes what the game is (not really a spoiler, but just marks regardless)

I have to say that those Guardians look like they're going to be some tough bastards to kill.

I also assume the Master Sword will be unique once you get it. Either some kind of low key repair just for that, or it doesn't degrade at all, but other weapons still have uses depending on need.

If the Master Sword degrades at all that goes against all we know from the Zelda series.

Yeah, I'm not shocked everyone is reporting that it's difficult because those thing should one hit Killeen link in every demo along with a few others

But when I heard that difficult mode was a dlc I was bummed

Reading these reviews, I'm now left thinking how hard the difficult setting is

Not necessarily. It's power has been siphoned off before. I'm guessing you're just need to revive its powers. Doubt that you can kill Ganon without it, no matter how many times you hit him.

Potential spoilers

The hero of time was defeated by Ganon so how effective is the master sword really ?

Edit: I guess the 2d zeldas dispute this claim from me

Late edit: depending on botws spot in the timeline my statement could stand

I kinda wanna grab a switch, but it'll be same story as my Wii U. I bought Wii U, classic controllers, Wii controllers, 8 games, etc etc all at once. Played a couple for 2-3 weeks and then haven't touched it in 3 years. Switch's launch lineup sucks arse

After re-evaluating I agree with you, I'm just gonna dust off my Wii U and buy the Wii U version of BOTW. Not worth sidewalk camping for a Switch since I missed pre-orders. I'll pick it up down the road when Mario comes out.

EDGE Magazine's review has gone public. 10/10

I won't post too many excerpts cause they're kinda spoilery.

quote:

The result, for all the longevity of its series and the familiarity of the open world genre, is a game that evokes feelings we haven't felt for 20 years. Not since Ocarina of Time have we set foot in a world that feels so mind-bogglingly vast and unerringly magical, that proves so relentlessly intriguing.

Plenty of games promise to let us go anywhere and do anything. Few, if any, ever deliver so irresistibly. 19 years on Ocarina is still held up as the high water mark of gamings best loved and greatest series. Now it may have to settle for second place.

I don't mind games being difficult, but I don't understand the mentality that a hard game = a good game or that a game being hard is automatically better somehow.

There's also a difference between the difficulty being part of the gameplay experience experience, and manufactured difficulty.

The quintessential "manufactured difficulty" example for me are sports games where suddenly stats don't matter anymore. Every team on the highest difficulty starts to play exactly the same because they are basically just on a permanent cheat code.

Edge Review details. May contain spoilers.

Here is a spoiler free conclusion to Edge's review that lays down the gauntlet, and yes they did award it a 10 (The 19th game in 21 years to be awarded a perfect score)

German Gamepro gave BotW a 94/100.

For reference Witcher 3 and Uncharted 4 were both rated at 92. Apparently they're known for being particularly harsh with their reviews.

I'd say March and April are completely booked.

Then if you try to get every heart on your own..oh lord.

Some of these heart pieces will be completely absurd I'm sure
