The Angry Video Game Nerd

Everyone remember the first internet critic who went on drunken sailor rants about video games? Definitely the initial pioneer when it came to being a YouTube celebrity, and his reviews are still relevant and funny as frick these days. Just love the character in putting a 9 year old who learned every cuss word known to man in a 25 year old's body.
Here are some of my favorites of his reviews:
Friday the 13th
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3
Fester's Quest
Batman

I've been watching some old Monster Madness videos lately. Those are great. Best AVGN videos are Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde and Silver Surfer.

Silver Surfer.
How much of a badazz is Bootsy for beating Silver Surfer and Battle Toads?

I like him most when he's just being himself; he should have killed the nerd thing off years ago. I can't stand some of the cocksuckers he surrounds himself with.

He makes only like 2 or 3 Nerd videos a year now. He hasn't whored out like the Nostalgia Critic has. The Nerd videos these days are more rewards to his fans than being actually necessary. His channel has already made him a small fortune to where he really doesn't give a frick anymore.

I met him a couple years ago in Texas at a convention. He's the most humble and down to earth guy I think I've ever met. He met with and took hundreds, maybe thousands of photos, repeated the same lines God knows how many times and kept a smile, never bitched once. Nothing but respect for him, however he does have some really bad videos, but way more good ones. So many curse words I use these days come from him.

Mike beat Jekyll and Hyde though

When he figures out all you had to do is walk across that gap instead of jump in TMNT is pure gold.

For those that haven't seen it, check out his review of Hong Kong 97, which IMO is the worst game ever made.

AVGN has some great stuff, but I like him better when he's just himself and not the character. Same goes for Pat the NES Punk, his podcasts are great (and he's also not trying to be a character in those). His co-host is good too, Ian.

I started watching this guy over 10 years ago when he started. Loved all his early stuff.
The Hong Kong 97 one was great. I hadn't see it before it was posted here!

He is one of my favorite reviewers of all time.

Have always loved this dude. Growing up with most of these games, he couldn't be more right about them.

Bugs Bunny's Birthday Blowout, McDonald's, and Bible Games are ones to definitely to check out.

I've never thought he was particularly funny since the punchline to many of his jokes are typically just a string of expletives, but I really like the other Cinemassacre content he's expanded into.
I watch "James and Mike Mondays" nearly every week and also enjoy the videos with Bootsy. His Monster Madness, which he recently announced he was ending, can't be beat if you enjoy horror films and have nostalgia for TNT's "Monstervision." It's the closest thing we have to that these days.

My favorite review he did was Castlevania 2: Simon's Quest. Pure gold.

But the joke is he's in his 20s/30s and using an argument convincingly that a 9 year old would make with the most despicable horrible vocabulary possible. It's really as if Tom Hanks character from Big was instead a nerd who loved videogames and then came to the future pissed as hell.
I really think he's a good character and paved the path for internet criticism and the YouTube celebrity at large. He really was the first YouTube star and showed what it could do as a platform. He should be celebrated for it. And on top of it he's really a nice humble guy who deserves the success he's gotten.
